Even though it’s working as I would have it now, when I’m listening to a podcast on my headset (with which I also dictate )  the sound volume of their podcast goes up – not down as it is now – when I hit the + key to begin dictating.

Like I said it’s mysteriously working as I would have it now – I think the high volume of the podcast interferes with recognition. Any idea how to set it so that the podcast or streaming music goes down to a very low level when dictation begins?

We suspect Dragon's auto-gain control is getting in the way. Turning off Dragon's auto-gain  may take care of the problem but because you haven't filled out your profile, we don't know which edition or version of Dragon you are using; different rules apply. That's why we included the Profile menu at the top of this page. If you're using DPI 15.3/6, search for “auto-gain” in the Quick Tips at the top of this page.
