Hi again, haven't been here in a while. Everything's been working fine, until today that is.
You may know that I am a creative writer. A writing program that I use called "Write It Now 6, used to except dictation from Dragon directly into it, just fine. "Select-and-Say" didn't respond. But that was okay, because my recognition was very pleasantly accurate. :-)
I had used Write It Now 6 to write with for a month or two, until today. I use programs like this only to organize and write outlines and first rough drafts. Any revision I do in Word.
Anyway, Today I open up a new file in Write it Now. I go to start writing in the usual text field and all I get is 'please say that again' over and over again. What could be making Dragon professional individual stopped working in a program it always worked in before? Is there a way I can fix it?
Oh, by the way, I am currently running Dragon Professional Individual 15.3, As I Can't Seem to Download from Nuance's Website Their Supposedly Newer Version, 15.6. Any Help You Can Give Me Would Be Greatly Appreciated.

Just adding a smidgen to dilligence's sage advice... If you don't see a green • in the DragonBar you are not dictating into a Dragon unfriendly environment. Correcting and editing will be very time-consuming. We recommend using a Dragon friendly application for the bulk of your dictation; like Microsoft Word, DragonPad WordPad etc. and then cutting and pasting your text into Write It Now when it is finished.

Working on Windows is like stepping into a river. You never step into the same river twice. It is not the same "river", nor is it the same "you". Greeks have understood 2000+ years ago.

The river may look the same to us on the surface. But deep down on the river bed Redmond has rolled out a bunch of "zero-day" fixes, has it not?

Perhaps once we all get used to "software by subscription only" the river will flow predictably, so long as the monthly payment arrives on time. Until then, let's just get used to the river having a mind of its own.

As diligence points out, there may be something going on. You have reported a new-onset problem with Write It Now; the user diligence linked to reported a similar new-onset problem with Thunderbird; and I can report that a little over a week ago I became unable to dictate directly into Slack. It was never Select-and-Say enabled, but I was able to dictate into it before.

As previously stated... The fact that you can dictate into any non-Dragon friendly environment one day doesn't mean you will be able to successfully dictate into your app the next day.  Nuance has been aware of this issue since Ver. 13. Rather than waiting a decade for a Nuance solution, we use DragonCapture, which you will find in our signature tag Trial Downloads. We never have to deal with this Dragon peccadillo. Even this forum will occasionally lose the green • (Active Accessibility and Select-&-Say). Since DragonCapture automatically takes over, we don't even realize we have lost the ability to dictate until we can no longer select words by voice. This is why Rüdiger Wilke created DragonCapture.
