I am having an issue where my microphone intermittently produces a static sound, which distorts speech. The static can only be heard when using the Windows Voice Recorder app or whilst speaking in Zoom/Teams, so I am not aware of when the issue is present unless recording my voice whilst dictating in Dragon. I have been told that this type of static does not affect the quality of dictation output in Dragon, and the only static that affects output can't be heard in voice recordings, just in the .DRA file playback. I have noticed dictation output is significantly affected when experiencing static that can be heard in voice recordings, so I would really appreciate any insight into this issue.

Welcome (See Mission Statement)
Our best guess is sporadic RF interference, loose jack or frayed microphone cable. Other than giving you some ideas, you can only work this out on your end. Consider moving your microphone cable back and forth while dictating into Windows Recorder. It's easy to tell a frayed cable/loose connection from RF interference. If the issue is RF interference, you will have to track down the source which can range from an AC grounding problem, fan, florescent light, oscillating chip etc. Unless you have a frayed cable the problem is unlikely to be your Microphone
