Hello,

I have been using a Sennheiser SDPRO1 and it finally needs to be replaced.

I really liked it, worked well with speech recognition.  I'd like something similar that would also be able to be used with my cell phone and the headset or earpiece wireless if possible.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Michael Mignoli

The wireless Sennheiser MB Pro 1 UC/ML utilizes the same microphone element and is considerably less expensive than the SD Pro 1. However, it does not work on a landline. It is ideally suited to speech recognition, VoIP and cell phone communication. We no longer carry the SD Pro line because they didnt sell well. We dedicated a Sennheiser SDW 60 for our office landline. The microphone element is also the same but it has additional features like High fidelity stereo.

Hi, Lunis. Does this take some kind of hand functionality?

BTW I would love to find a headset, preferably wireless, that understood that it was going to be used with more than one computing device using speech recognition.

The headsets that I have tried that say they can be used with PC and mobile phone tend to treat the mobile phone as a second-class citizen. Or maybe the reverse.

The headset session on the PC can be interrupted by the mobile phone ringing. But when you hang out you nearly always go straight back to the PC. However, I do almost as much speech recognition dictation into my iPhone as into my PC. I want to switch back and forth not just when I am making phone calls.

For that matter I'd like to be able to switch the headset under manual control between PC running Dragon, iPhone where I am dictating or whatever, and iPad or a second PC. I don't have Amazon Alexa or the like, or I might be asking for that too.

When I have looked into this it seems that the standard Bluetooth profile is for PC/phone switching in the asymmetric way that I mentioned. I haven't seen a multipoint symmetric switcher.

The Sennheiser MB Pro 1 is multipoint so you can sync it up to 6 devices. When your cell rings, simply press the answer button on your headset. It would be nice if it included an auto answer option. Sennheiser microphone input and speaker reception should be significant better. In our opinion, the difference is so profound that we will not answer our iPhone without our MB Pro 2 (dual speaker model for old farts).

Yup, you should be able to sync the MB Pro 1 to your iPhone, PC and another PC but you will probably need a 2nd blue tooth dongle for your other PC. Note that you will need to press the answer button when your iPhone rings. However, it should automatically switch back to your PC when you hang up.

We also include 2 complimentary windscreens and our Dragon MB Pro setup manual

* as you might see from my signature I have the Sennheiser MB Pro 1, which IIRC I bought from you, Lunis.

* the behavior you desribe is almost exactly what I DO NOT want

* Pressing the answer button to pick up the phone is not that bad

* Automatically switching back to my PC when I hang up is something I do not want.

* actually, what I want is to switch the headset to provide voice input to the phone without a phone call. And AFAICT simply pressing the answer button when there is not a phone call pending does not actually switch.

Who makes voice phone calls on their phone anymore?

The phone is a computing device. A peer computing device to the PC. I want to switch and fro symmetrically.

Yeah, the cost of purchasing the dongle is probably why I haven't played with more PCs on my headset. Although I don't really have a need to connect my PC to more than one headset at a time, since I tend to use my second PC with my second Dragon license to do transcription.

but I would like to use my headset to provide voice input to my phone and iPad. And as far as I can tell the dongle is not an option for those. And also as far as I can tell there is no good way to switch when the phone is not actually receiving a phone call.

It can be toggled on and off via the headset button but the default is to automatically turn the MB Pro1 on when it is lifted out of the charging cradle and off when it is placed back into the cradle.
