The devil is in the details. Please avoid generic terms like “voice recognition USB headset”.  That's like saying  “is this a good car”. AAAprice.com does not make or develop USB Microphones. They know very little about microphones. They are simply a jack of all trades master of none reseller; like Amazon. An Amazon speech recognition microphone rating is also meaningless because they are made by customers who have typically only purchased 1 or 2 headsets and not tested several hundred microphones like we have. 

If you can supply us with your microphone name and/or model we can hopefully give you a more qualified answer

Sorry my post was confusing. I'm looking for one about that price range/quality ($ 44 or so). I have used a Logitech with an Andrea USB for years (can't find the model no. of the Logitech) but the cord is fraying....and I want to skip the Andrea and go direct with the USB. Would love something comparable to use with DNS.

Be careful about USB headsets - I've just been through USB headset blues because Windows10/11 won't recognize the mic part of my (inexpensive) headsets after a fresh reboot. I finally disconnected the USB volume/mute control from the cable and plugged in the 3.5mm jack (which was recognized properly by Win10/11).

As far as USB microphone functionality is concerned, nearly any USB microphone should work. We suspect that you may be using a computer that has disabled your Allow apps to access your microphone option. This feature should never have existed, is unwanted and somewhat rare. You'll find details under the Quick Tips button at the top of this page. After opening the Quick Tips, click on the 3rd link titled “Microphone not working in Windows 10”. We had to do this for a remote customer yesterday after the IT department gave up. In all fairness, this is an odd duck

I think I'll just go with a USB mic. Sure would love to know of a good model. Can anyone share what they are using? (Around $ 40 type vs. $ 300 !)

You might want to consider if Dragon is going to play a major role in your workflow. A professional mechanic probably won't purchase his tools at Walmart but a 1973 gremlin hatchback might be more than adequate for a bimonthly shopping run. Our $60 Nuance endorsed Plantronics USB microphone is the least expensive microphone that meets our standards

So, I purchased Plantronics Blackwire 3200 Series. I'm just trying it out with DNS. . .

Question: With a USB mike/speaker set, is there a way to switch and listen to Youtube through my laptop, rather than having to listen through the headset?

Any time you plug in a new USB sound system, it automatically steals Windows sound output (one time only). All you have to do is right-click on the little speaker icon (to the immediate left of the clock) and change the output back to your internal soundcard. You won't find Plantronics on our website either but we did check test Blackwire series.

 

Pros:

• Inexpensive 

• Accurate

 

Cons:

•  Microphone element is smaller than we prefer

•  Literally no noise filtering which is all but a must with us

• Terrible comfort utilizing miserable sponge foam instead of more comfortable leatherette speakers with cool protein fillings such as the Addasound line of microphones
