I'm on the verge of getting a new computer, vacillating between the older Dell XPS 15 vs the Dell XPS 15 which they call "New." What it comes down to for me right now is that the older model has a variety of ports, while the "New" has only USB-C and Thunderbolt. (The New one does come with one USB-A/USB-C adapter in the box.)

I currently use a Bluetooth microphone, but if I were to want to switch to a wired microphone in the future, would you recommend the computer that has an actual USB-A, vs having to plug into a USB-A/USB-C adapter?

How about if there is a hub in the mix – like if I were to get a USB-C/USB-A hub which has multiple USB-A ports and plug the microphone into one of those USB-A ports – how do the microphones perform going through an adapter/hub combo?

I'm also wondering if there are any direct USB-C mics (that don’t break the bank).
