Any way to disable the 2 hour microphone time-out? Registry?

Hmm, unless somebody knows a way to override the maximum of 120 minutes in Dragon itself, the approach would be to use an external timer app that fires a VBS recognition mimic file with a command that does nothing at a specific interval to keep Dragon awake all the time.
Let me look into this. ------------------------- Turbocharge your Dragon productivity with 40+ Power Addons |

Registry?
Not sure what you're trying to achieve, and why, but have you tried setting it to 0 minutes? The registry is definitely not the place to look at. ------------------------- The New Game in Town: DragonConnect |

1. Click DragonBar/Options 2. Click Miscellaneous tab 3. Change the default setting in Put the microphone to sleep after 5 minutes of silence to 120 ------------------------- Change "No" to "Know" w/KnowBrainer 2022 |

With Dragon 16 VLA at least if you try to set the time out to 0 minutes the dialogue will not allow you to do so. However you can get rid of the 2 hour time out using the following script (all at the risk of becoming power add-on 41). One for KB perhaps Lunis when you find yourself a programmer. It doesn't seem to be documented in the API help file but I may have missed it:
Sub Main EngineControl.Option (dgnengoptionTimeBeforeMicSleepWithNoSound) = 0 End Sub ------------------------- |

Most long-time-users of Dragon have understood that speech recognition cannot understand if any sound picked up by the microphone is meant to be transcribed/trigger a voice command or if this sound is just background noise or speech not intended for the SR system to handle.
That's why most long-time users have aquired a good microphone discipline: Turn the microphone on when you want Dragon to handle what the microphone picks up and turn it off afterwards. Once you start it you'll get used to it pretty easily.
Earlier Dragon versions got unstable when the microphone was left on for an extended time without real dictation. Current versions can come up with unexpected recognitions, leading to unexpected behavior (text appearing somewhere, applications being started, and so on). Apart from that, everything the microphone picks up while it's on will be recorded. You probably don't want this for confidential information you're discussing in the background.
The auto-timeout is for the case where you tend to forget turning off the microphone after a dictation session, but from my point of view the shortest value of 5 minutes is too long. If within the time interval Dragon picks up any sound loud enough to be interpreted as speech, the interval starts again. So unless you're in a really quiet environment or have muted your microphone otherwise, this auto time-out will behave rather flaky.
