Lunis and I have discussed this before and I want to know if anyone here can provide insight and help me with this very strange behavior in Dragon 16 Professional. I am a Forensic Pathologist and had been using Dragon Medical Practice Edition 2 for years. I contacted Lunis to try to improve my efficiency in completing my reports. He suggested that the speach recognition in Dragon 16 Professional is far superior to DMPE2. I use a Philips digital recorder when I dictate my reports. The transcriptions of my reports after installing Dragon 16 Professional and the Knowbrainer medical dictionary were horrible. The only way I can get the transcriptions to be good is by having Dragon read my reports. This drastically improves the transcriptions with one exception. Every time i use the number "1," the transcription writes the word "one." I have the setting set to 0. Here are some examples: one point one centimeters one thousand one hundred 20 grams one thousand 10 grams One .2 centimeters one thousand 680 grams one hundred and 40 grams 20 one years 2023 – 169 one 30 one and one half inches one hundred 50 one pound This is not how the numbers are written in any of my reports, so I don't know why reading my reports causes this behavior. If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this, please let me know and I will try them. Thank you, Mark |

Something similar happened to me recently, and I was able to fix it by setting up a new profile. I think it was caused by me correcting "1" to "one" at some point. Unfortunately I didn't test many words, so I don't know if it was as far-reaching as your problem.
P.S. When you say you've got the setting set to 0, I'm assuming you mean this, which makes sense: DragonBar > Tools > Auto-Formatting Options > Numbers, if greater than or equal to: 0 |

I have had this exact problem. It is fixed by creating a new profile but returns if you try to improve your vocab by using old files and reports to train. The accuracy if you do not train with old reports, is poor. It is so poor that I trialled nuance medical one but that is not the solution either. Not sure if this helps or not. I have used Dragon for many years and I think currently it is only so so at the moment regards Bob Ivers orthopaedic surgeon. Microsoft surface win 11, DNS16 |

sorry, after I posted I checked and I am using DNS 15.61. I thought that it was 16. Interesting that the same problem occurs with the 2 versions Bob |

Is it possible that some of your old files have text that looks like
"... we must handle the case of at least one 100 pound foobars ..." ------------------------- DPG15.6 (also DPI 15.3) + KB, Sennheiser MB Pro 1 UC ML, BTD 800 dongle, Windows 10 Pro, MS Surface Book 3, Intel Core i7-1065G7 CPU @ 1.3/1.5GHz (4 cores, 8 logical, GPU=NVIDIA Quadro RTX 3000 with Max-Q Design. |

Just to make sure - in DragonBar > Tools > Auto-Formatting Options, have you checked the boxes to format Numbers, Units of Measurement etc at all?
Re training from old reports: If you add significant amounts of text and words to Dragon, I'd make this a two-step process. First let Dragon analyse your files for unknown words, but NOT for writing style. This will add a large number of words to your vocabulary and may already be sufficient. If you're paranoid like me, export your user profile at that point. In a second step, let Dragon analyse documents for your writing style but not add any unknown words. Don't scan too many documents. 100 pages of text is more than sufficient; less will do. If you see an improvement, fine. If the issue reoccurs, go back to your exported profile and hope that Dragon will adapt over time (it usually does). Hope that helps, Stephan ------------------------- |
