I observed that the speech to text accuracy degrades over time. (DPI 15.61.200.010) The equipment I'm using from microphone to computer is the same for several years. The degradation happens gradually, especially with higher usage i.e. dictating several pages or being simply active for hours. this includes the vocabulary added as well as pronunciation trained words. For example: "end" alone would always be recognized as "and" despite being in the default vocabulary. After acoustic retraining it would be correct for a while and then fall back again to "and". This is just one example of many. Lead and leed is another one. For example "Nissan Sentra" is persistently written as "Nissan center" despite the word being in the vocabulary. After acoustic training it is correctly spelled for the next few weeks and then Sentra deteriorates again to "center". Also an example of many. Furthermore, recently it started to miss "hear" /understand spoken words or add words that were never spoken and/or write complete nonsense. for example" "I am going to the shop to work" clearly pronounced comes out as: I am honing to the heart [or hot] do walk" it doesn't matter how clearly articulate I pronounce all. Most odd is that this comes and goes. almost like a human, in the evening into the night more and more errors as if it were tired. In the morning pretty accurate. I checked background noise levels they are consistent the same level. Another thing is that despite the setting to capitalize new sentences which typically is text after a "Period" seems to never work or randomly at best. As mentioned in another post last year, setting to manual the 2 Dragon services seems to improve performance and accuracy. Here's the kicker: When I create a new profile and start out fresh, it is very accurate! As if the profile file overtime deteriorates. Any thoughts?

Dragon is not designed for single word dictation. Commonly used phrases are stored in Dragon tables. Because the pronunciation of end & and are nearly identical, when Dragon is uncertain, it will pick the most common choice from those tables; which is and. Same deal with an vs and. Dragon works best when you use BestMatch IV algorithms (dictate 9 words in a single utterance).
Nissan Sentra vs Nissan center sounds like you're not using one of the Vocabulary Editor's most important features. Try adding the phrase “Nissan Sentra” to your Vocabulary Editor. Training is occasionally needed but most of the time, manipulating your vocabulary (think George Santos) works better and… You get to take it with you to the next Dragon release; unlike training. It is like going to heaven and being able to take my 1978 Trans Am with me. What, I'm the only one...
Proper capitalization and spacing should work anywhere until you move your mouse. It sounds like you are dictating into a non-Dragon friendly application. If you can't see the green • or checkmark, in the DragonBar, Dragon won't know where the words are how they interact with each other. As example, we doubt you'll have this problem dictating into DragonPad or this forum.
The previous 3 paragraphs don't really cover your problem. We were just sharing some unrequested information. Here's what we recommend…
You may have just answered your own question. Your user profile is most likely self-destructing, as it ages, because you haven't made several critical user profile changes, which you will find in our KnowBrainer Dragon Installation/Training Guide. This PDF manual includes a number of recommendations but most importantly, how to fix 30 sandtraps. ------------------------- Change "No" to "Know" w/KnowBrainer 2022 |

...
Each time I read this, I'm thinking to myself "it is not Dragon that gets tired"…
To add some more to Lunis's sage advice:
Somewhere in the Dragon bar, there is a menu "Reset Audio Calibration". If you run this, Dragon will return to its pristine state, but preserve all the commands, words, and statistics that you have added over the last couple of months. If accuracy degrades, this is usually a good way to try before you go to the trouble and create a new profile.
This feature has been there for some years, but for some reason it has not yet come to the attention of the forums main contributors (apart from yours truly, of course).
Hope that helps, Stephan ------------------------- |

Thank you for your advice, Stephan. I had the same thoughts, is it me who gets tired. But having the possibility on occasions to sleep in the afternoon and get up around 5-6 PM, the phenomenon mentioned seems to be not affected by my condition. It might has to do with prolonged usage of the wonderful OS (Windows 10) and then in the overnight idle state various running and housekeeping annd optimization tasks optimizing and cleaning up the OS's act.
