On one of my computers, Dragon had become increasingly unresponsive after switching between different applications.
I would alt-tab between two different apps, and then Dragon would take several seconds to start working again. The amount of time before Dragon became responsive after an application switch gradually increased of the course of months until I was sometimes waiting for over a minute before Dragon would begin working.
I created a new user profile and the problem was fixed. Now Dragon is very responsive when I switch between apps.
I'm wondering… Why?
Was there some configuration on the old profile that could've caused this?
Speech recognition accuracy was good on the old slow profile, so I didn't think it would be profile degradation that people are always talking about.

It sounds like your user profile swelled itself into a whale. This is the #1 reason we created the KnowBrainer Dragon Installation/Training Guide, which includes pictorial details on the installation process, a list of Dragon commands organized by category and pictorial details on fixing 30 sandtraps. ------------------------- Change "No" to "Know" w/KnowBrainer 2022 |

Thank bloatware. I have 32 gigabytes of hardwired memory (16 GB), and another 16 GB random-access memory, and I'm still noticing that populating online fill-in text boxes behave as if I had dictated content written in Morse code. I'm also noticing that if I use the dictation box as a shortcut to composing text to be copied and transferred into the online text box, what I get is essentially gibberish, with certain letters doubled, or words with double consonants showing up as three of a kind; the message is, use WordPad. I have not figured out why that happens. As for the applications hangups, my only suggestion would be to tread lightly, as processing power, rather than memory seems to be the chokepoint.

It could be that Dragon is having to examine the app into which you switch to identify all the controls and HTML. Is HTML Support enabled in both users?

If I remember correctly, I think Lunis once said that Dragon dumps (unloads) app-specific commands from the app it is leaving, and reloads app-specific commands for the arrival app. I notice it sometimes (or I think I do) when switching to and from a browser with fifty tabs open. I think Matt makes a very good point about parsing the controls on the new app. I know that I have 300 or so click points in Word when I have a couple of side panels open that Dragon needs to parse for strings. VC used to have a hard time with that in years gone by.
