So another "new" issue on a fresh install of Windows 11 machine, this issue was NOT happening in Windows 10.

I'm not sure if it's related to a Visual Studio setting, or just Windows 11 running interference again.

Basically, I've been using Dragon with Visual Studio since 1997 (REALLY) and never ran into this.

The issue is twofold, and ONLY HAPPENS in the MAIN text editor, not the other sub windows:

1. "new line" does not work, however I can kind of work around it with some macros.

2. It's like the window "loses" focus: dictating 2 words with a pause in between will have Dragon behave as if the window "lost focus", then got focus again, i.e. it would print out "HelloHello" instead of "Hello hello". This is a major issue when dictating any sort of text for comments in code!

I've tried disabling Intellisense/Intellicode, and a bunch of other text editor options (mirroring other machines where this is working), but to no avail. To clarify, all of this WORKS in every other application on my machine, supported or not by Dragon, etc., even in other text windows in Visual Studio (e.g. "properties"windows with multiple lines of text, where I can use "new line", etc).

Has anyone ever run into this, or anything similar? Thank you!

AFAIK, "new line" (and also "new paragraph") are vocabulary words, not actual commands. Because Visual Studio’s primary text window is not Dragon-friendly their behavior is not guaranteed. I have the same problem with "cut that". Probably the easiest solution is to stop using these "words" and get in the habit of just saying "press enter". You might also try creating application-specific commands to replace any of these problematical "words".

We are using DPG 15.7.1. Even though we have Visual Studio, we probably don't know enough to be dangerous. We only use it to edit the KnowBrainer 2022 command file. Having said that… when creating a new XML or HTML document, we have no problem dictating but Visual Studio is not Dragon friendly. In other words, we can dictate but Dragon doesn't know where the words are. Automatic capitalization, occasional proper spacing and Select-&-Say is not possible.

According to your member profile, you are still using Ver. 11. If you have updated, please consider updating your forum profile or consider adding this information to each post. Otherwise, we assume you are using Ver. 15. If you have not upgraded, it is way overdue and we recommend upgrading to DPI 15.61 (Non-expiring Digital Downloads w/Patches)
