Hi,

I just reinstalled Dragon on my laptop (had to provide proof of purchase to reset my activation to Nuance).

Since its been installed again, it will often stop accepting any voice input and I can't figure out why. I did a software fix to do with the USB ports yet the issue comes back. Sadly, the supplier is trying to go back on their unlimited support offer.

I redo the microphone calibration and it resolves the issue for a while. Does it sound like my USB hub?

Thanks

Chris

Instead of using a USB hub, try plugging the microphone directly into a USB port. Dragon is greedy, and it might start to "act out" when forced to share a USB port with another device.

If you suspect your sound system, I would advise to check the Windows settings. Type "sounds" into the Windows search and see whether you get a level when talking into a microphone.

Thanks for your responses, I have to use a USB hub as the laptop is so new that I don't have the right connectors. I believe it is the USB hub, just tried to update the software for another headset and it wouldn't connect !

Assuming it's the XPS 9320 in your signature, are you using a 3rd-party USB hub/"splitter" or the included USB-C to USB-A adapter?

I'd start with the one-on-one adapter.

My USB hub works nicely with a keyboard and/or mouse, less good with a webcam, and terribly with a microphone or wi-fi adapter.

I ran a troubleshooter and the mic was muted. Does Windows 11 do not disturb mute mic input?

Most of the time, Windows 11 does not default mute your microphone but it can happen
