– – >Q: does anyone know how long a Word file name can be without having Dragon Problems? I have many one drive word files and some in dropbox as well that have long names which help describe what they contain, so I don't want to shorten them any longer than I have to.

As I said above long strings(Names) can cause serious problems with Dragon in various situations. That would also align with the buffer overflow message in the event viewer. Microsoft documentation states that the Windows API imposes a maximum filename length such that a filename, including the file path to get to the file, can’t exceed 255-260 characters. However, I would be more concerned about Dragon or the Dragon extension, not Windows, handling the long pathnames. Can't you move all your long filename files from OneDrive temporarily to see if it makes a difference when opening your standard named word documents from OneDrive?
