ALERT! Windows 11 is HORRIBLE with Dragon NaturallySpeaking. Don't let your computer install it under any circumstances. You can't use any applications such as Firefox or Google mail even when you have the proper dragon extension installed. It also seems to disable the few voice commands available to use with Photoshop. ------------------------- Dragon naturally speaking Premium 11 Windows 7, dual core, 8 mb ram,usb mic |

Regarding advanced scripting commands, I found if I change my commands from SendDragonKeys to SendKeys it works fine.

I can't say I can reproduce serious problems with Windows 11. It works very well on my system in combination with Dragon® (I remain faithful to version to 15.3!).
The only big downside is the new Windows 11 Explorer main menu, which is a real pain in the keister. But I have successfully fixed this with the tool StartAllBack. Such a relief! It tends to make Dragon® respond faster too :-)
However, since this is most probably manipulating the explorerframe.dll it may cause issues with some applications. Quiet Box© users for instance, should not install StartAllBack because it seems to mask the window that's on top of the Z order. ------------------------- Turbocharge your Dragon® productivity with 40 Power Addons |

Startallback restored the explorer bar but it did not help install Dragon 15.6.1 on my new Dell XPS desktop. I have followed every suggestion made by Nuance Support. I have, by actual count tried 24 times with same error "Error opening installation file." I asked if I could revert to 15.3 and they said they did not have a download link for that. I have given up.

It sounds like you simply downloaded an incomplete installation. This is not unusual with slower broadband connections. However, we were surprised that Nuance support didn't at least suggest downloading again.
Nuance doesn't support out of date versions of Dragon but you can get it from us by clicking Ver. 15.61 which is a lifetime download w/Installation/User Guide of Ver. 15.3 & Ver.15.6,1 details on fixing 28 sandtraps and other perks. Note that because of the complexity involved, we are charging a $20 service fee. Our server has a 5 Gb bandwidth but of course it can only run as fast as your end.
We also offer a flash drive option in case the download doesn't work. ------------------------- Change "No" to "Know" w/KnowBrainer 2022 |

I am on Comcast Xfinity and my download steed is 600mbps (Just tested) I downloaded at least 5 times from a link they provided to my 1 tb SSD drive. My PC has 32gb of RAM and is powered by an Intel I-9 chip. The dfownload is complete because I used my old PC to check it off. I did not have it active on boty PC's at the same time.BTW, I am a retired IBM systems engineering manager. |

An i9 with 32 Gb of RAM and an SSD drive doesn't make any difference. While you have an exceedingly fast download the process depends on the broadband speed between you and the Nuance server. Assuming there are no bottlenecks between you and the Nuance server, which we believe is 1 Gb, the download should work very well. This download should take less than 15 minutes. If it is closer to 45 minutes, you will likely receive a partial. If your Dragon executable includes a green flame icon, it should be intact but there is no way to fully verify the executable until you run it. We are not experts but if your executable fails, after rebooting your computer, it still sounds like a partial download
PS: Our server, which we share with the DEA, CIA, IRS and FBI has a 5 Gb broadband which shouldn't make any difference ------------------------- Change "No" to "Know" w/KnowBrainer 2022 |

I know the processor doesn't make any difference, I have used Dragon since v5. I tried the download on my other PC and it works so it is complete. I would try your the $20 download, but 15.3 is not listed as an option. 15.61 is there as is v14.

After upgrading to Windows 11, I am unable to text in either Chrome or Edge. Unfortunately, my worry that Microsoft will never provide an update persists. |

Seems like you need to load the Dragon Web Extension. Try this: Dragon Medical Weberweiterung - Chrome Web Store (google.com) both for Chrome and Edge.
Hope that helps, Stephan ------------------------- |

Did you check to see if your Dragon Web Extensions for Chrome/Edge are installed? You might even try reinstalling. Also note that if you are using DragonCapture and KnowBrainer 2020, you can use Force Dictation everywhere. The KnowBrainer command is Print . Example, if you say Print , KnowBrainer will will type “my dog has fleas”. You'll find 30 day trials of KnowBrainer 2020 and DragonCapture in our signature tag (below)

I suspect that at least as regards dictating into the address bar window In Windows 10, these programs might be unfriendly to receiving dictation because programmers did something that hopefully will stop malware. On one occasion I was surprised when a phrase that I had dictated appeared totally intact in one of these browsers. Then while I watched with astonishment, letters began to disappear starting from the right edge of the phrase and moving towards the left as though someone was pressing a backspace key. The letters continue to disappear until only the first three remained. I started to regard directly dictating into those browsers as a waste of time even in Windows 10 and began using a simple little script to force text into place, without any duplication of letters. Insert <dictation> ' name I chose for the command, (the word "insert" of course could be replaced by any word of your choice.) The "<dictation>" establishes that Dragon is to put the dictated text into ListVar1.
Clipboard(ListVar1) ' put ListVar1 into the clipboard SendKeys "^v" ' paste contents of clipboard into whatever field your cursor is in

I'm not tech-savvy and am new to the KnowBrainer forum. I recently downloaded Dragon Professional Individual v15 onto a new laptop running on Windows 11 Pro. I have two issues which I don't have with Dragon Home v13 which is still running on my old laptop with Windows 10 Pro: (1) When I select a correct option, the corrected text is inserted but the old text remains. (2) Sporadically, words or phrase are duplicated. After much emailing with Nuance customer support, I've been told today that Dragon Professional v15 is not officially compatible with Windows 11 and that testing is ongoing. has anyone else had this issue on Windows 11 and are there any ideas?

I use Dragon with Win11 without issues. I could be wrong, but your issue sounds to me like there is a "connection" or "speed" issue between Dragon and Word. Word might not be keeping up to Dragon or vice versa, so Word is "dropping" keystrokes or event operations. These are just wild guesses.

Interesting that there are FOUR different Chrome web extensions for Dragon in the meantime. One is the well-known v13, and then there are 3 different ones for Dragon Medical. Is it known in what they differ, and whether one can use the Medical Extensions also e.g. for DPI? ------------------------- Sennheiser MKH Mic |

You must use the correct extension for your version and edition of Dragon. For example, DPG 15.71 can only use one extension which is designed for Ver. 15.71

I think you may be overreacting. I transitioned from Windows 10 to Windows 11 earlier this year, and I have had no problem specific to my updating of the Windows OS. I did take the opportunity when KnowBrainer became available to have Lunis do a full review of my settings; and from my standpoint it was well worth the money I spent. I will venture that when I started to use DNS 7, I believe it was, back in 2007, it took a while to get the hang of things; but over the past 15 years DNS, and afterward DPI, became my principal, indeed essential, wordprocessing tool for any sort of writing. Compatibility with Windows is never a problem, whichever version of Windows I was using. What counted was mastering the program itself; and because DNS and DPI are interactive using the human voice to transform human thought to readable (and editable) text, there is a behavioral aspect to working with the program that needs to be constantly adjusted. It is just like driving a car or operating complex machinery. There is a learning curve involved that constantly needs updating and refinement. Whatever problems I may have had over the years were traceable to my lack of understanding of how various settings created unexpected outcomes. In time, best practice becomes habitual; but paying close attention to what I am doing, and the results I am getting, and keeping good notes, are the keys to success. This is a complex program, and complexity is undoubtedly the source of much of the frustration that experienced over the years. And, as the saying goes, to get to Carnegie Hall, you need to practice, practice, practice. Same here. ------------------------- Art Silen 'Question assumptions… Ask better questions… Think stochastically' DSN 15 .3, running on Win10 Intel Core i7 – 8700 K CPU@3.70 GHz, with 16 GB of RAM and KnowBrainer 2017 |

MOST DEFINITELY NOT AN OVERREACTION!!!
There's also a more onerous process for rolling back to Windows 10 beyond the 10 day countdown:
CNET: How to roll back from Windows 11 to Windows 10
fortunately I was within the 10 day window, the process was simple and essentially unattended, and everything is running snappy again under Windows 10.
May consider upgrading to Windows 11 if repeatable evidence demonstrates that this issue has been solved, either on the Microsoft or Dragon side of the equation. ------------------------- Ice Rafter |

We can verify your findings because we had the same problem when we upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11. We couldn't solve the issue and didn't have the option of switching back to Windows 10. We didn't want to upgrade but many of our remote support customers are using Windows 11 so we needed to familiarize ourselves to the changes; many of which we despise. For example when we right-click on a File Explorer item we only get half of the options and have to click on a submenu for the rest
1. Our computer expert created a Windows Administrator account. 2. He verified that the problem no longer existed, even when running Dragon. 3. Without rebooting, he switched back to my profile which was no longer sluggish.
That was 6 months ago. In our opinion, Windows 10 users have little or no reason to upgrade. To make matters even more perplexing, it seems that only a few Windows 11 users run into this problem but as the adage goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. We recommend waiting on Windows 11 in your next computer. Note that Dragon 16 will be tuned to Windows 11. ------------------------- Change "No" to "Know" w/KnowBrainer 2022 |

Same problem here, I lost my user profile, again, after a Windows OS update (11):-/. I had to open a new user profile, but I have no access to all of my commands,...., I grow weary of redoing them over and over. I also purchased a software update from one of the expert users on this forum to 'force' dictation in other apps; this is gone too:-( I've been searching the forum to see where my last posts are, but can't find those posts either. I tried to 'stave off' the windows 11 update time and again, but grew weary of the reminders to update,....., mistake. Any help here is appreciated, thank you in advance, Robert |

You probably don't need your new user profile. Just switch to your backup profile. You'll find details in the KnowBrainer Dragon Installation/Training Guide, which includes pictorial details on the installation process, switching to your backup user, a list of Dragon commands organized by category and pictorial details on fixing 30 sandtraps
You might have to reinstall DragonCapture but that should be all it takes. Note that we include downloads and serial numbers to your previous purchases ------------------------- Change "No" to "Know" w/KnowBrainer 2022 |

The PowerMic extension for DME and the "EHRi Web" thing don't even do anything "real", I don't think. The former simply enables the usage of the PowerMic/SpeechMike buttons in certain web-based EHR. Nothing else.
There are only two "real" extensions AFAIAC: one for desktop Dragon of all flavours (rickety as part of strategic corporate "gas-lighting"), and the other for DMO/DPA/et al (comparatively more reliable, especially in conjunction with the newest DMO 22.3).
... I tried to 'stave off' the windows 11 update time and again, but grew weary of the reminders to update,....., mistake.
I confess that I could never understand fellow users who rely on desktop Dragon as a tool of trade, yet willingly "upgrade" to an explictly incompatable OS. This is not so much "judging" as "lamenting", as I myself do plenty (which also include not doing what I should) that are worthy of Darwin Awards. Perhaps it's just a matter of the "heart wants what the heart wants".
N=1 anectotes of Windows 11 working "just fine" with Dragon 15 are just that, no more / no less. The variability in system configuration is just too great to warrant any conclusion.
At least wait till Version 16 before downgrading to Windows 11. |
