Hello everyone,

I don't know if the program Band in a Box is very familiar in the speech recognition world, but it's a beautiful program for creating all kinds of music. The results can be very professional. I have been using the program for years, but I have very severe RSI problems. Therefore I created many Band in a Box commands for myself. I thought it would be a good idea to share those.

Here is the link to the demonstration video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEYpSYDFxds&feature=youtu.be

If you're interested in listening to some of my BIAB recordings, or the ones I created with my girlfriend, check out both of our YouTube channels:

https://www.youtube.com/user/RobMeulman

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1gsdNLE7_Gy8qavoOplQow?feature=hovercard

If you're interested in the program itself:

http://www.pgmusic.com/

Most of these commands will work on several screen resolutions (not the very low ones though) because most mouse position commands are relative. The mixer section, however, depends on a specific screen resolution, so you may have to adjust these commands.

Preferred screen resolution: 1920X1080

These commands were created with Dragon NaturallySpeaking Individual 14, but will probably also work with older professional versions. Also, if you have a previous version of Band in a Box you will probably have to adjust some of the commands, but about 80% will still work.

If one or more of these commands don't work, delete them from your command list.

In the last section of this video you can see some of the VoiceComputer Intags in action. At this moment I've only created one single overlay (due to some unresponsiveness in the lead sheet section). I will be experimenting with more overlays, for specific sections of the program, in the future.

Have fun with this command set!

Rob

Thank you Tigerfeet!

Yes it is.

Making money with it, well wish that was true.... Everybody's making music these days, the competition is definitely killing.

It's just a big hobby of mine. I've spent years and years making music programs like this, Cubase, Sonar etc hands-free. Not that I had much choice though :-)

Very cool I must say :-). Did you do the video edits?

I haven't looked at your command's because I don't use band in the box. All my software and stuff is incredibly low budget :-).

There are a few things you can do to increase your YouTube reach – if you are interested.

Well done I enjoyed the experience.

Cheers for now

Dan

Thank you Dan!

Yes I did the video myself with MoviePlus X6.

That was a load of work... And a tough program to make hands-free.

Although I didn't place this video here for views, merely for offering my commands to anybody who could use them, I am curious what tips you have to increase my YouTube reach.`

Thanks PG!

There are some cool ones in there I didn't know of yet.

A good replacement for some of the mouse position commands I used.

Hi there Rob,

Sorry for the delay, yesterday I was on the medical merry-go-round :-).

I've always been fascinated by your Gravatar – it always struck me as neat :-) – even a little mysterious and so peaked a certain curiosity in me. Of course this is said by the guy who has plain yellow – I was following monkey8 & Rüdiger at the time who were using plain colours.

I like your video mixes and particularly that semi letterbox look which I couldn't get if I was paid for it :-).

I'm not a YouTube expert! I am a preacher, retired from large congregations and multi-church management – well a sort of Force retirement if truth be known – I do look after a small face-to-face church, I'm somewhat disabled these days and I decided that I should try to extend some type of ministry across social media and build a website. I didn't have a clue what social media really was at the time :-).

Preaching is not the number-one favourite subject for YouTube and particularly somebody from my Pentecostal backgroundWITH  very definite views and opinions. Getting any type of reach at all is a bit of a challenge.

I have a YouTube channel, in the last 28 days a total of 28 solid hours have been watched on my channel. This is not my record by any means. I have passed the 14,500 views all up and I have 48 subscribers. I might say that the members of the congregation that I minister in are not computer illiterate and definitely feel that social media ought to be avoided like the plague :-).

This is what I did:
I formed a channel – I commercialise the channel with YouTube  and then took the monetisation off each video – I don't think that you earn very much anyway in this procedure stops ads being shown across the bottom of your videos. You still get ads in the right hand side pain but you get none in the real viewing area.

I've learnt by trial and error. These days I always include a description that goes under my video – I used to go for snappy titles but I sort of changed my tune and I make sure that the wording of my titles is included in the description. I go for titles that are likely to be in the search is that people use on YouTube instead of my own zany style of titles.

When I've got the time I add close captions – I do my own close captions – to the videos because that helps the search engines spread them out somehow.

I use lots of playlists – that way the playlist videos tend to show up in the right-hand pane because most people watch YouTube with the autoplay on. Having a video in a playlist tends to mean that the next video up on autoplay will be one of your videos. You can even have the same video in multiple playlists. Recently I've been republishing some of my videos because I've got better at certain aspects of the production so it is the same content produced slightly differently. On YouTube you can't replace a published video you can only add a new video. I'm more interested in overall reach rather than an individual video going viral – there's not much chance of that happening with the type of material I produce.

I've only recently become interested in trying to get subscribers or even trying to get any interaction at all. I really don't want to pepper my videos with calls for folk to comment, like and subscribe so I'm still thinking about this.

I do use a transparent icon in the bottom right side of the video pain and if you click on it it'll take you to subscribe to my channel. I'm constantly trying to work out why some of the videos have lots of views and some don't but what I do do is link everything across the whole of social media. I have a Facebook page, a Facebook timeline, Twitter, several blog sites – WordPress and Blogger mainly, Pinterest which is very fruitful and Vimeo – the Vimeo videos are excellent but I don't think they get the reach or the views in the same way that YouTube does.

I use the totally free services for everything and don't pay anybody anything – I haven't got the money anyway :-). I double up everything, for instance I have a page on Facebook I also have my own timeline, one closed group plus another two secret groups – I publish the same content with small variations amongst them all. I use WordPress (three different blogs) Blogger and Google plus, a couple of dedicated boards on Pinterest, Twitter that I only linked to rather than actually use properly, tumblr, – basically use the automatic integration between these social media outlets. Vimeo is my latest experiment and Vimeo interacts with Facebook far better than YouTube.

I have an irregular newsletter that goes out to a huge cross-section of folk – not that many folk really but with lots of different interests.

I have an American friend who writes edgy Christian songs who lives in California and sends me his music from an old Apple notebook via garage band beamed out through the public Wi-Fi of a library attached to an email – the quality is not great and he doesn't like me messing about with his recordings :-). He likes to include a fair bit of chat in with his music. I take his music and add a few of my photographs to it so that I can publish it up on my channel in YouTube. His music is Christian edgy to say the least – I like it but it is certainly not everybody's cup of tea.

When I started to use YouTube I was given all sorts of advice. Most of it I didn't pay too much attention to because it dealt with content and the length of the videos. I wanted to present my own content and the content would determine length. My videos range from seven minutes all the way up to an hour and a half. One of my most popular playlists is an 11 hour tutorial split into 33 segments in a playlist. It always fills up my top 10 list – so go figure :-).

I shoot sitting in a wheelchair against the green screen and these days I can't sit in my wheelchair for long periods some sort of laying back in an easy chair with green over the back of the chair – it's a bit problematic :-). I use mixed lighting and the reflector from a car windscreen (keep the sun out) to soften the light with a reasonable Mike inside a foam filled box. Anybody used to decent equipment would cringe. I use a Canadian software company for my sound GoldWave and Pinnacle studio 19 ultimate is my video editor.

I do a lot of narrated PowerPoint slides but I can't afford to buy Camtasia so I do my own home-made version of it using a web cam, green screens and picture in picture.
My next job is to make a welcome video for my YouTube channel

Lunis, Lindsay, Rüdiger, Chuck and others have been very kind to me and I think that this is a great forum – I've met many folk who have become firm friends from all around the world on this forum.

I've sent you my personal email address as a PM if you're interested in taking this any further :-)

Cheers for now
