SpeechStart+, 6.80.000

I now have the latest version of DPG on my work computer and on occasion it fails/crashes/stops working. When it does that, I under the command "restart Dragon."

SpeechStart+ has gotten iffy with me. Sometimes it will work in restart Dragon like it should. Other times it doesn't work at all. I will say "restart Dragon" and nothing will happen. Or, I will say "restart Dragon" and the purple circle will pop up but nothing happens when I say "acknowledge restart."

Is there anything I can do to get SpeechStart+ to behave more reliably?

An excellent move if you agree to stealing the achievement of others, which pretty much sounds like yourself, and also because you put "chrome before content" in your fancy fake developer world, thus ignoring that the content of the webpage never changed as far as I can tell.

We used to be friends many years ago and you were very helpful when I was a total newbie. And for that help, I am appreciative. However, with time, as I got to know you better, it slowly became apparent to me that you were sometimes a difficult person to deal with. But that was my problem, and I chose to limit our interaction. But since then, over the years I see a pattern of you being increasingly aggressive in terms of insulting and denigrating numerous people. Instead of this behavior making others look bad, the main result was people not involved in the immediate interchange drawing the conclusion that you are a person not only to be avoided, but worse, a mean person. I don't know what life circumstances have pushed you in that direction, but it is now high time for you to get introspective and realize that you are hurting yourself more than others. I would strongly suggest that you get some professional help. I am sure that your first response to this post will be extreme anger, then denial. Hopefully, when those emotions very slowly abate you will realize and accept that you have some significant issues that are medical problems which can be addressed and improved to make you a better and more happy person. You need to first realize and admit to a problem before you can successfully address it. None of us are perfect by a long shot. We all have qualities that we wish we did not have. But your situation is outside of acceptable behavior. Hopefully you will eventually accept this as a helpful suggestion from a concerned previous friend rather than an attack or attempt at humiliating you. Think about it.

I appreciate your input, specifically as this is the first time you are responding to me directly in a long time, although I have given you a couple of chances to do so which you just didn't take. Was that my fault?

I understand your concerns about my "personal condition", but please acknowledge the fact that I live in a world with a full-time day job needing my attention, and, suffice it to say, I manage to get it done for the most part. In my day job as a loss adjuster, I have to get in touch with an enormous amount of people over time, and for the most part, I have always managed to settle the deal for more than 20 years. There have been a couple of cases where people objected to my opinion and took it to the court, but in all of such cases, they have been overruled by the judge. Therefore, I don't really see the need for seeing "professional advice".

As regards the other things I get involved in when not being on the job, such as when posting to this forum and particularly responding to particular persons, and particularly pesky persons, I don't really think that this is any of your business quite frankly.

Personally, I think that you are on the wrong side of things when it comes to making an opinion about what's going on. However, I don't mind, and I wouldn't want to discuss this with you.

Above comment is just "good fun".  Quite innocuous.  And nothing special about buying back a defunct URL, as much as I am ignorant of any historical sentimentality.

 

That dig by Meulman on "standard WordPress templates" may or may not be intentional.  In the context of some of the previous exchanges, this is likely intentional.  A bit underhanded, and meant for provocation - but still quite harmless IMO!  A "mature" response would have been to let it slip, IMHO.  One takes some and dishes out some.

 

Applying terms such as "stealing" here is utterly uncalled-for, no?  Ditto "Pretty much sounds like yourself" ... "fake" ... Most fora have explict stipulation against ad hominem exchanges for a reason.

I am sorry RW: it doesn't take a mental health professional to observe that this is where a maladaptive "personality trait" is showing through, time and again.  With your above-par education and above-average command of the English prose, any "English-as-a-second-language" exculpation is less than convincing.

 

Just a case of "zhuangbi", AFAIC, especially the parts on collecting PDF etc ... Bad taste.  But not "offensive".  I myself could be accused of having indulged in the same at times.

 

C'mon!  Everyone knows about Godwin's rule!!  But invoking it so soon after just a handful of posts already?  No one has even bothered explaining what's so special about speechcomputing.com in the first place!  Yet you are already bringing up Gestapo!  The part on "probably runs in your family" ... just embarassing for anyone to read on such an "educational forum", whereby some quad members just spent hours producing a paragraphy with WSR, only to raise a simple question.
