On my PC, I upgraded to DNS 16.51 but profile does not upgrade is the message I get.  

Upgrading user Profile "Ellen"

ERROR: None of the topics is upgradable.

I see no numbers associated with the error.

 

I tried shutting down the machine and then upgrading.  It did not help.  I know where the profile is.

When upgrading from Ver. 15.0/15.3 to Ver. 15.61 your user profile should be migrated from %PROGRAMDATA%\Nuance\NaturallySpeaking15\Users\ to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Nuance\NS15\Users. It looks like Dragon didn't migrate your entire user profile or damaged it along the way. We recommend the following 2 options:

1. Try switching to your backup user profile. You'll find details under the the Quick Tips button at the top of this page. Perform a search for “switching” as in switching to your backup user profile.

2. If #1 fails, you can try opening the old %PROGRAMDATA%\Nuance\NaturallySpeaking15\Users\ to see if your user folder is still there. If it is, we recommend manually moving it to the new user folder address.

 

3. If neither of the previous options work, hopefully you didn't fully trust: Nuance, Dragon, your computer, Putin or the Trump family and you created a manual backup of your user profile. When it comes to Dragon, nothing is a sure bet. Our Dragon profile is automatically backed up once a day to the cloud, once a day to a USB C flash drive and manually once a month to another hard drive.

I found %PROGRAMDATA%\Nuance\NaturallySpeaking15\Users\ backed up in 2019. OMG. I did not realize that I was dealing with the direct line to Stalin thru Nuance.

Anyway, using that is better than going back to zero. I don't find %LOCALAPPDATA%\Nuance\NS15\Users Where should I move that backup profile? I see the other programs that I added to my PC, but DNS.

Dragon user profiles of the desktop when

The only reason we can think of, for Dragon failing to move your user profile to the %LOCALAPPDATA%\Nuance\NS15\Users location would be if you manually moved your user profile to a different address. For example, in the past when we have had trouble with a user profile, we would move it to the desktop and browse Dragon's open user profile menu to the new location. Fortunately, we no longer have to move the user profile when running into a Windows rights issue. As your backup question…

 

If you double-click your user folder name, you will find 7 subsequent folders. The current folder contains pretty much everything and is the one you are currently using; as the name implies. The backup folder contains everything in the current folder and by default, is overwritten every 5 times you save your user. Nuance conveniently saves your backups in the same location. For the purposes of this question, ignore the other folders and don't touch the backup2 folder. It's not what you think

My profile is on the desktop in a folder. It is also buried in the folder where it was supposed to be for the older version. Should I just move the profile to the right folder wherever that is for the new version? Should I get rid of the profile on the desktop.

A long time ago, I moved my profile under some advice from the forum. I was confused, and probably did not follow the directions correctly.

Also, recently I moved my profile to a temporary folder and then back to the original place in an attempt to get the profile to be recognized. This was before I updated and again under I think your instruction (Lunis).

This is what we surmised. Dragon only migrates your user profile if it is located in the Ver. 15.0/15.3 %PROGRAMDATA%\Nuance\NaturallySpeaking15\Users\ location. Moving your user profile to the %LOCALAPPDATA%\Nuance\NS15\Users directory is an option but not required. If you wish to leave it where it is, simply click on the DragonBar Open User Profile menu, then click the Browse button and show Dragon the desktop subfolder address.
