Anyone who has succesfully downloaded 15.61 onto an MTech computer? Installation process filled with errors about digital signing and cab files and certificates, unable to upload.

Our office desktop computer is manufactured by M-Tech and we had no problems installing Ver. 15.61. We have remotely installed Dragon on several M-Tech notebook computers. We even remotely installed DPI 15.61 on the M-Tech president's wife notebook computer. ------------------------- Forum Mission Statement |

Successfully installed DPI 15.61 on M-Tech 8700-ED with 32GB RAM running Win10 20H2 without incident. I think we will have to know a lot more about what happened in terms of messages and error codes and exactly what transpired during installation before blaming the problem on M-Tech hardware. For instance, some antivirus programs, if not disabled prior to installation, can really do a number on DPI installations. Doing Lunis Orcutt's tips and tricks (Knowbrainer User Manual) prior to installation can also help avoid installation problems. Just sending the computer back to M-Tech probably will do little to solve your problem. ------------------------- M-Tech M8700-Core i78750H 2.2 GHz-32GB DDR4 2666MHz-Win10Home 20H2-Philips SpeechMike SMP4000-DPI 15.61-KnowBrainer-Dragon Capture-Wordperfect Office X8 and X9 |

I will post the error messages. Beyond frustrated at this point. I am a court reporter, not an IT person. The MTech has: Intel(R) Core (TM) i7-9750H CPU2.60 GHz, 64 GB RAM SS. |

The first installation error is : Setup is unable to validate the signature of file C:\Users blah blah local\Temp\Dragon\setup.exe. It is possible the file is unsigned or that the corresponding digital certificate was not found in trusted store. See log for details. |

It is possible that one of the following four may be a contributing cause to your setup dilemma: (1) Windows Updates may need to be applied; (2) there was no internet connection during installation; (3) possible a missing intermediate certificate leading to Setup being unable to validate a digital signature; or (4) the Root Certificate Authority is missing. You may also find it helpful to download carefully review the DPI installation instructions from the Knowbrainer website as well as consulting the Troubleshooting Manual. For example, Lunis Orcutt writes: "Error 1330 his is a fairly common problem among notebook computers and some desktop computers. It is usually caused by the DVD drive not being able to keep up with the installation. We recommend copying the contents of your DVD to a folder on your hard drive and installing from the hard drive folder. Assuming you have already See Naturally Speaking Quick Tips (as of 12/13/2018) available on the Knowbrainer website at Page 35 and pre-installation instructions on Page 37 to put the contents of your installation disc on the hard drive prior to running Setup. ------------------------- M-Tech M8700-Core i78750H 2.2 GHz-32GB DDR4 2666MHz-Win10Home 20H2-Philips SpeechMike SMP4000-DPI 15.61-KnowBrainer-Dragon Capture-Wordperfect Office X8 and X9 |

I am definitely not here to advocate or defend MTech, but the problem is not with the machine.
Given the snippet of the error message quoted above, it seems that you are attempting to install from the self-extracting executable, which needs to create a folder to download and store the actual installation files to temporarily first, before executing them. Because of the size of the data, this process tends to fail, although it is the default. And you will end up having no installation files once the temporary folder has been discarded.
Try again, but this time, specify a known and persistent folder, such as a folder you have created on the desktop, to download to, and when prompted that the download has finished, cancel the process, before starting it again, by executing setup.exe manually from inside the folder on the desktop this time. All it takes to do this is to read the prompts carefully, and act accordingly, rather than just clicking "Next" all the time.
Make sure to backup the folder for when you need it in the future. -------------------------

Thank you Rudiger. Ithink we're headed the same way, but you explain the steps to a solution a lot better than I did. ------------------------- M-Tech M8700-Core i78750H 2.2 GHz-32GB DDR4 2666MHz-Win10Home 20H2-Philips SpeechMike SMP4000-DPI 15.61-KnowBrainer-Dragon Capture-Wordperfect Office X8 and X9 |

This also occurred to us but when you attempt to install Dragon, if it fails with an error like “unsigned corresponding digital certificate (or whatever)”, it will not rollback or delete the %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp\Dragon folder so you still have access to the setup.exe and Dragon NaturallySpeaking.INI installation executables. We are only pointing this out because of the uniqueness of the situation. We tried this and ran into the same error. Neither Microsoft, M-Tech or I could figure this out so we are recommending an FDSK, returning this computer to its original manufacturer state and starting over.

Given the state of the original poster's computer knowledge (Post #5) and the apparent growing complexity of the solution being suggested, it may be well for the poster to arrange for a support session with Mr Orcutt to work through the FDSK reset and program installation. djj723 may wish to consider that he/she may run into problems with other software whe running FDSK. I'm hoping the poster has an image file to restore from. ------------------------- M-Tech M8700-Core i78750H 2.2 GHz-32GB DDR4 2666MHz-Win10Home 20H2-Philips SpeechMike SMP4000-DPI 15.61-KnowBrainer-Dragon Capture-Wordperfect Office X8 and X9 |

Easily downloaded on another laptop, which, unfortunately does not have the speed and other terrific attributes my Mtech possesses. Thank you for your response. I did attempt using your folder suggestion yesterday. Still no joy. From the absolute very beginning I had paid support because of my lack of technical knowledge, from the very person you recommended. All of the steps and suggestions you mention were followed prior to the installation attempts, which were many. I did not go off the thread, I was attempting to process several hundred transcript pages with no functioning Dragon. So alas, it is my semi-new laptop that is the culprit. |

Running FDISK, whatever it means literally, but most likely some kind of system reset, may do a lot of harm to the overall ecosystem of the computer. So better don't go down that path. The same thing may be true for inviting Mr. Orcutt for a remote session, unless you already have nothing left to lose.
![]() The original poster seems to have gone off the thread by now, and who could take issue with that, but the real solution would have been to keep an eye on what's happening during the extraction of the download installer. -------------------------

Fortunately, Djj723's computer includes a restore partition that will return her computer to its original state. Of course all of the applications will need to be reinstalled. She has now contacted M-Tech for assistance with her System Restore.
