My Voice Recognition Experience:  Dragon NaturallySpeaking, Standard, Version 4 in 01/2000, then v5, v6, v7,; Dragon NaturallySpeaking, Medical Edition, Versions 8 & 9.5 in 12/2009; Dragon Medical Practice Edition 1, a.k.a. Version 11 on  11/18/2011; DMPE 4.3 Build 15.50.200.030 Installed 04/07/2020 (and avoid AMAP M*Modal Fluency Direct, ARH Version 10.0.449.1462 started using 02/01/2019)

I became a 1st time KnowBrainer user 03/09/2019, almost 2 years ago, when I purchased KnowBrainer 2017.  I made a new thread in 04/2020 in which someone posted this week, mid-January 2021, mentioning "VERSION" a.k.a. "RELEASE" ... and to make sure to have the newest RELEASE.

I've occasionally updated my "BUILD" most recently to 01/01/2021 (BTW I don't see the subsequent 01/~06/2021 Build referred to in perhaps that post), but had NO IDEA of KnowBrainer VERSIONS/RELEASES.  I just checked my KB 2017 properties.  The best I can tell I have Product Version 1.0.0.0, date modified 05/18/2018 6:44PM, KBPro, Accessed March 07,2019 1:45:16PM; KBPro Properties Signer pcbyvoice Ltd sha1  Timestamp Friday, May 18, 2018.

Also KB Properties October 04, 2012, Modified October 04, 2012, Accessed March 07, 2019

Am I actually running KB 2017 v 1.0.0.0?  Perhaps in 03/2019 when I installed KB 2017 I didn't install the KB 2017 "Upgrade" after downloading KB 2017.

How do you properly Delete KnowBrainer and Install the latest VERSION/RELEASE?  With DMPE 4.3 closed, click START, delete KB 2017 from list of apps by R clicking and clicking UNINSTALL?

I'm aware of how to Backup my personal KB 2017 commands.

Where to look for availability of new VERSIONS/RELEASES???

In the KBForum Member Profile it asks if you use KnowBrainer, but no specifics.

I'm being critical of MYSELF (not of Lunis and KnowBrainer) if that's what you mean. You know how much there is to learn in utilizing software to it's full capability. I was watching Jeffery White, MD use MedInformatix in December 2002, 18 years ago. His wife was a Vendor for MedInformatix at the time. He said that he had been using MedInformatix for quite a while but was probably only utilizing 5-10% of its features. Another example is when I serendipitously... after over 1 year of being baffled... learned how to "Press" an IN FOCUS ICON depicted by the dashed oval... the term for which I don't remember... using the "spacebar."

1. You can uninstall KnowBrainer through Windows add or remove programs utility.

 

2. To completely remove KnowBrainer, additionally delete the %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\KnowBrainer\ folder.

 

3. Reinstall KnowBrainer 2017 

4. Launch KnowBrainer twice (yes we know that's weird)

5. Run the KBCommandsUpdater to upgrade KnowBrainer <%> KB Build 11-23-2020 to <%> KB Build 01-05-2021. When you open KnowBrainer, this should be the 1st command you see

Last night even though I didn't know about #2 above, the above process (s #2) resulted in a speedier KnowBrainer2017.

Took me a few minutes to remember how to do this... well actually it was the 1st time to do this
"%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\KnowBrainer\"
{Just right of "WINDOWS" ICON, PASTE INTO "TYPE HERE AND SEARCH"
.... brings up "Best Match"
Click on "LOCATION"
then DELETE all KnowBrainer Files Listed [...KnowBrainer2014, ...KnowBrainerCommands, ...KnowBrainerLogs]

Deleted KnowBrainer 2017
Deleted "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\KnowBrainer\"
all KnowBrainer Files Listed [...KnowBrainer2014, ...KnowBrainerCommands, ...KnowBrainerLogs]

But during Installation "KnowBrainer... is already running

Therefore repeated the above with identical results therefore repeated the above a 3rd time except before Double Clicking the Downloaded File I rebooted

Back on track, preparing to launch KnowBrainer2017 the second time.

The KB Command Updater just like last night stated I was running 11-24-2020 Build, but 2 weeks ago I updated my KB2017 to the 01-01-2021 Build.
I then closed DMPE 4.3 (didn't reboot)
When I clicked on KB2017 desktop icon to relaunch KB2017 and DMPE 4.3..... I was told KB2017 was already running.
I'll try rebooting and see if I have the 01-05-2021 Build.

When you close KnowBrainer you need to give it about 20 seconds to disengage from Dragon. Now run your KBCommandUpdater again and you should be looking at Build 01-06-2021. You won't need to uninstall

THEREFORE

I CLOSED DMPE 4.3 and KnowBrainer2017

Deleted KnowBrainer 2017 during which time "... is reconfiguring KB2017" then it was removed from my desktop's list of apps
[as always before I didn't touch the KnowBrainer Commands Updater app], at this point it was still showing in the list
This time I clicked on the WINDOWS ICON to check for the "official" name of the KB COMMANDS UPDATER.... It was not showing in that area, but even after refreshing it remains in the CONTROL PANEL\ALL CONTROL PANEL ITEMS\PROGRAMS AND FEATURES; as always I didn't touch the "KB Commands Updater" program.

We suspect your computer has buffered a recent update which may not be overwritten for a day or so. We just uploaded <%> KB Build 01-06-2021 an hour ago but the KBCommandUpdater still thinks we are using Build 01-05-2021 and will probably continue to do this for a while. Hopefully everything will iron out tomorrow. The new Build includes the ability to delete a specific number of Outlook email messages when viewing inbox messages in Preview.

Can I delete the other 3 Builds (01-01-2021, 11-24-2020, and again 01-01-2021) that are showing? I know they are just empty commands, but...

I can try tomorrow for the 01/06 (21?)/2021 Build.

Right-click on the KnowBrainer icon in Windows taskbar hidden icons (under that little roof by the clock and speaker). Click About. The latest version is 4.51 but don't forget to update to the latest commands with with Rüdiger's KBCommandsUpdater. The previous version is 4.0

"^" "To show hidden icons"
Tonight I tried to do so to the KnowBrainer 2017 icon in my "Windows Taskbar" w/o success and again w/o success via the START Menu, clicking on the KnowBrainer 2017 APPLICATION. I eventually discovered to have the KnowBrainer 2017 icon appear in the "Windows Taskbar Hidden Icons" KnowBrainer 2017 had to be running. I do have v4.51.
