Speech Productivity dictation box keeps changing from a font size of 18 to 9. (This is the box that comes up when I say db in Speech Productivity Pro version 7.0.7.). It started to do this a month or two ago, and I was hoping that the problem might go away with one of the monthly updates on my Windows 10 computer, but the problem is persisting. Sometimes the font will stay at 16 for several days and sometimes for a shorter interval only before defaulting to its loved size 9. I change the font back from 9 to 18 by clicking on Font and then selecting Change in the submenu, selecting a size of 18, and clicking the apply settings button. Should I be doing something different? If I select a different larger size such as say 16, it will eventually change back to the beloved 9 size.

I can't say for sure about the Pro version, but the Standard version also had a very similar bug which was fixed with version 8.

Naturally, this behavior should not be occurring.

Please try the following:

0. Say "kill dictation", to close the dictation box completely.

1. open your cache manager application- say "cache manager"

2. Say "show 1st", locate any entry that shows "dictation_box", and click on that entry. Say "delete file".

Alternatively, you could say "clear all files" which would reset all configuration settings for all the SP programs.

3. Exit the cache manager program.

4. Then reopen your dictation box, and reset the font as you describe, which, as you're describing, is the correct way of doing it.

Please let me know what you find.

Your statement regarding the font persisting for a few days puzzles me. Unless you don't shut down your machine each day. The font will persist while the dictation box is running. Once the program is run, it remains running, but goes to a hidden state when you are finished using it for the time being . This allows for much faster relaunch times. When the program restarts, it consults the configuration file to see what your desired settings are. Occasionally, the configuration folder, or individual file, can become corrupted in some fashion that prevents the file from being read. Then it will default to program default values.

I think Tom's advice should do the trick.

However, if it doesn't (which would be really puzzling indeed!) then it shouldn't be too much of a problem to send you a custom AIO DB version with a default 18 Pt font size.

Anyway, keep us posted.

The other day I came across a situation on my machine where the folder that we store our configuration files in was corrupt. Meaning that the files inside the folder could not be changed. This is the 1st occasion after several years that I have seen this happen. So, if the above procedure does not work, using the "configuration manager", then this maybe the problem for you.

C:\Users\Your_name\AppData\Local\Speech_Productivity

This folder can be deleted, of course, the configurations need to be reset as you use the various programs again.
