On the KB Forums WP X9 is said to be the last version of WordPerfect that is compatible with Dragon. I use WP X6 and would like to upgrade to X9.

Searching online to buy WP X9, either outright or as upgrade from X6, yields ridiculously priced options, in the $ hundreds. Upgrading to the "new" WP 2021 costs much less! However, WP 2021 is not Dragon compatible.

Where can one buy a WordPerfect upgrade to X9 at a reasonable price?

Just spent half an hour on hold with Corel. When someone finally picked up, who barely spoke English, he had no idea what I was talking about. Total waste of time.

Sorry can't help you there.  But your situation possibly can't be helped.  It reminds me of the time when I was hunting down Acrobat 7 or 8 or 9 when the "new" X (or whatever) conflicted with DMPE 2.x etc. (precise versions and details escape my recollection).

By the way, the only reason you got to speak to someone, ANYONE, on the phone, was because that person "barely spoke English".  If that individual spoke "Queen's English", Corel couldn've afforded him/her/nb in the first place to talk to you.

That person'd be either sitting at home collecting Biden's subsidy (so they say ... and they also insinuate that Omi-Grande cheques are in the mail, shortly?) or working for KB's White Glove Service, whose charming southern drawl might just be the tonic to soothe your forlorn ears.

A few weeks ago I got a message from my celluar provider that my nearly 7-yr old Blackberry Classic running BB10 is slated for "forcible retirement" coming Jan 4.  Thus I had to pay CDN$500+ just for a used Blackbery Key2 running ancient Android 8.1, all to satiete my irrational keyboard fetish, when a new Key2 from 2018 was only $600ish.

Anybody in North America these days paying "MSRP" for used cars?  How about "dilapidated" houses - still available for a "song"?  

Dude (pardon my presumption), this is 2021, they just sold a watch box for 100,000 Swiss Francs, and you want to pay MSRP for something just because it is a "prior edition"?

DMPE 4.3 - has it been discontinued?  Yes sir.  Does that prevent you from selling it for more than when it was "continued"?  No sir.  Look no further than KB right here to see DMPE 4.3 being sold for > 2k USD per box.  Why?  That's what people want and what the market demands.

My comment here bears you no malice.  All I wish to convey is simply this: if you wait, the price might climb even higher.

P.S., 21 years ago when I was a just a "senior medical student", I was eyeing this ... spiffing birch computer desk, in Staples I think.  I distinctly recall seeing this rather prominent sticker on the desk, that said "Y2K Ready".

Today it's "Chip Shortage".
