Hi, Recently any email that has the option "view in web browser"-when I click on it what I get is a page of text rather than viewing the email on the website, for example the New York Times daily briefing. Does anybody have any suggestions as to why this might be? I have tried changing my default browser but that doesn't seem to make any difference. Thank you. Regards, Katherine. |

This is probably a safety measure from your email client. Are you using Outlook? Since plain text is the best way to guarantee a higher level of security it may have decided to do that. It's most likely something you could change in security settings. ------------------------- Turbocharge your Dragon® productivity with 40 Power Addons |

Hi, Rob, Thanks very much for your reply. Yes, I am using Outlook. Under "email security" I found an option that you can check to read all mail as plain text-that option is not checked. Is there somewhere else that you would suggest looking, please? Thanks. Regards, Katherine. |

No, you are right it's probably not that setting...
Outlook seems to write the contents to a (temporary) .mht file. Since Microsoft Edge is my default program for that, the entire layout is messed up. When I associate this file type with Internet Explorer it looks somewhat better (but still plaintext).
Seems a little bit harder to associate those files with Firefox or another browser which may produce a different result? If possible at all:

Hi, Rob,
I think I've solved it, for now, anyway.
I searched online and found a way to associate the.MHT file with another program-in this case Internet Explorer. That seemed to work for the email.
Thanks for pointing me in the direction of MHT.
Regards, Katherine. |
