Somewhere on this forum I read about using The program Macro Express in combination with voice commands, and I wanted to give it a try. Some of my macros are long and take relatively long to execute; as far as I know, you cannot tell Dragon to play back a command faster. I played around with creating simple commands in macro express 5 (not the Pro version), but it seems hit and miss whether I can get them to run by voice command. Example: I created a simple macro express command to click on a certain place in the window. It is supposed to only run in edge. The shortcut key is alt F2. I created a voice Command for Dragon that should execute alt F2. (SendKeys "^{F2}"). The scope for the voice command is also Edge. But it is not running; when I give the command, absolutely nothing happens. Dragon recognizes it as a command, but there is no execution. If I say: "press control F2", the Macro Express command executes fine. What am I doing wrong? I could imagine that there are some things that I should look out for when trying to combine these 2 programs. Any tips?

I've never used Macro Express, but I see one issue in your post. At two points, you say the shortcut key for the Macro Express command is Alt+F2, but at another two points you say that it is Ctrl+F2. Which is it?

Thank you for Catching that – it is control F2, and both the Macro Express as well as the voice command do have control F2.
(But my typo does prove how very easy it is to make this mistake and mix this up.) |

Dragon might not execute a Macro Express script if you have created two Macro Express scripts have the same activation and same scope. Macro Express doesn't prevent you from doing this -- you must do your own housekeeping!
So check if there are two Macro Express scripts that are triggered by the same hotkey and share the same scope. If there are two, disable or delete one of them. |

What am I doing wrong?
A possible fix, thanks to Monkey8, if you are on 15.3:

Thank you for the time to comment and for the link to the other discussion.
I thought to finally upgrade to 15.6, from 15.3... and unfortunately it turned into a nightmare! I have no idea why, but while I was downloading the upgrade, Dragon stopped working, crashed my user profile, told me I had no mike, did all kind of weird things. The download constantly failed because of poor Internet, and now Nuance tells me I have exceeded the number of times I can download, and I have to wait for someone to respond to my email and reset my allowance! I had created a system restore point before attempting the upgrade, and so when Dragon failed to behave I went back to my previous restore point. It only made it worse. User profile was not recognized after the restore. I will spare you the whole saga, but I have spent hours resetting my computer back and forth to different times, reinstalling and uninstalling Dragon, trying to recover user profiles from backups, etc.. I finally managed to get my profiles back, but because there is no installation file for 15. 3, I have to use 15.0 until Nuance will respond and let me try to download to 15.6 again. It is nobody's fault, but I just needed to cry a little! |

Man, am I sorry to hear about your tribulation! Sorry enough to regret posting the link to the other thread.
Two words of the year from 2022, with no specific association to anything:
1. Gaslighting ( ... the customers)
2. "Goblin mode" (... the product)
Hope you overcome the obstacles. |

Thank you for your sympathy! :-) Fortunately it is solved now. And I probably needed that push to make the step to 15.6, finally! |

Macro Express commands , at least for me run quite fast, sometimes faster than the computer can keep up. If you are using Rdp connections, you have to change some of the settings on whether you want to command to run locally or on the host computer. Also this changes with screen maximized. I usually use two monitors with RDP on the left and another work space on the right. If you are using macro express to move through a program, by selecting key combinations, chances are it is going too fast and you need to slow it down , either by pauses or slowing the data transfer. You can call macro express commands with dragon, however , for me , it is easier and quicker just to type the shortcut command than actually speak it. You also have to make sure if you are combining them that the focus is in the right location. The dragon focus location may be different than the macro focus location, and then the macro command will run so fast at the wrong spot, you may interpret it as nothing is happening.
