I will start to work in a private practice in July this year and they are still using DMPE 3.2.

There are websites still selling DMPE 4.31 German, but they are stating, that 31.01.2023 is the last day they will do so. Is there a big difference between 3.2 and 4.31? Should I try to get the other partners to upgrade all existing copys? If they don´t want to, should I buy my own copy? I will be using it all day every day.

If I want the "writing ladies" to correct it for me, do I need to buy more than one licence?

Sorry for just blurting in here and asking lots of questions, but I am panicing a little.

DMPE 4.3.1 was discontinued in the US last March. That means no support and if you need Nuance to rollback your serial number, which is good for 4 activations, you are out of luck. European DMPE 4.3.1 is good until the end of March this year but keep in mind that Nuance will no longer support DMPE 3 or 4 after 31-03-2023. Nuance wants to force you into purchasing DMO (Dragon Medical One) which is very expensive. The yearly lease is the same price as buying a full copy every year. Depending on how you do your math, Nuance is quadrupling+ their profits. We are not trying to scare you but rather informing you of the impending event. You will need to purchase your upgrade, if it is still available, from a European Dragon certified reseller. 

As far as licensing goes Dragon is licensed to single end-users so each person using Dragon is required a separate license. However, if you're “writing ladies” are only correcting your dictation, they will not need individual licenses. They can use DMPE 4.3.1 to listen to recordings of your dictation (with the text) and type edits but not verbally correct. Note that your “writing ladies” will not have this luxury in DMO. In order for Nuance to make Dragon to work from the cloud, they had to sacrifice about 75% of DMPE 4.3.1's functionality. Keep in mind that you only have 4 activations and in order for your “writing ladies” to edit your work, you will need to install Dragon on their computers. Nuance will not give you more than 4 activations and accidents happen. Your reseller will give you more details

 

In our opinion, there is a big difference between Ver. 3 and 4. If there wasn't, Nuance wouldn't  release a new edition because you wouldn't have any reason to upgrade.

Does this mean that their license servers will no longer release a license when you uninstall it? 

 

Do their license servers still allow you to activate DMPE 4?

The Nuance server still permits you to activate DMPE 4.3.1 and even DMPE 2. 

 

When uninstalling DMPE 4.3.1, theoretically you will reacquire 1 of your 4 activations but don't count on it. Nuance makes significantly more money when they can force you into Dragon Medical One (DMO).

Thank you very much for the very helpful reply. I will have to think about it for a bit. Spending >1500€ of my own money for software, that is going out of support, sounds kind of crazy, but might be my best option.
