One of my computers has a bug : when dmpe 4 is in normal mode, dictation does not occur. I need to press the shift key to force dictation, but dmpe responds to commands.
I happenned since last windows update.
Any Idea why and how I can solve this ? ------------------------- Memory: 16GB Microphone Brand and Model: LFH 4000 & Flexy Mike Operating System: win 10, latest update; Surface Book 2, Processor (CPU) Type & Speed: I7 8650 Soundcard Brand and Model: none Speech Software: Dragon Medical Practice Edition, french version: 4.2 Using KnowBrainer?:Yes |

This is not a bug. You are simply attempting to dictate into a non-Dragon friendly environment (no DragonBar green • or checkmark). The most likely reason it worked before was just luck. That's why Rüdiger Wilke created DragonCapture and we use KnowBrainer 2020 for editing ------------------------- Change "No" to "Know" w/KnowBrainer 2020 |

I might be missing something but dicdoc is not mentioning the target application so we don't even know if the target is speech friendly or not. Besides, even if it isn't, it should still receive dictation. It's just that there wouldn't be context awareness or Select-and-Say control.
Looks like Dragon® "hangs" in between modes or something. Try saying "switch to command mode" followed by "switch to normal mode".
If that don't work, try creating a new user profile.
If that doesn't work either then it might be that Dragon® is secretly trying to tell you to check out SP 6 Standard or SP 6 PRO ------------------------- Turbocharge your Dragon® productivity with 40 Power Addons |

Hi Lunis, this strange behaviour happens in each and every app context, despite me using DragonCapture.

Are you saying that this problem also occurs in Dragon friendly apps like Microsoft Word, Outlook, WordPad, DragonPad and WordPad? Also note that DragonCapture steps out of the way when you are dictating into Dragon friendly apps, denoted by the green • ------------------------- Change "No" to "Know" w/KnowBrainer 2020 |

Yes, it does. Even if I quit DC ------------------------- Memory: 16GB Microphone Brand and Model: LFH 4000 & Flexy Mike Operating System: win 10, latest update; Surface Book 2, Processor (CPU) Type & Speed: I7 8650 Soundcard Brand and Model: none Speech Software: Dragon Medical Practice Edition, french version: 4.2 Using KnowBrainer?:Yes |

Lunis, DragonCapture and the transfer method currently used in DragonCapture such as "TypeMode" have no impact on this whatsoever. It all boils down to whether or not Dragon is listening for the dictation, and if it is, it may involve DragonCapture, if the target window is not Select-and-Say, or else just step out and leave it to Dragon to simply send the text recognised down to the target window.
I understand that getting one's head around how this works isn't so easy, although the concept behind it, and the methods used to implement it, are basically easy as pie. -------------------------

Try creating a new user profile for test purposes only. If the problem goes away you can probably assume you have a corrupted user profile.
