In numerous posts over the years I have mentioned that MMODAL is very good for dictation, but primitive for command functionality. The principal problem has been command recognition when called. Today I had occasion to check the same 36 commands in MMODAL Fluency Direct, versus DMPE 4.3. Sucessful command recognition/implementation results: MMODAL missed 12 of 36 commands! Dragon got all 36 commands without a single miss. Moral of the story--if you desire to use MMODAL only for dictation, it is great. For custom commands use, it is an exercise in frustration and futility. MDH

I agree have had to start using MModal (10.??) as my employer blocked me 2 days ago from using DMPE 4.3 on my BYOD laptop. General dictation is pretty good but with a very long latency for the text to be displayed and command recognition is very poor. Going to look at setting up a keyboard key for forcing command recognition. If that doesn't work may consider a handle held mic so I can issue commands, and movement to the next field in Epic.

MDH, lacking the possibility to test FD myself, I was wondering if you could perhaps answer some questions?
Does FD have navigational and/or correction commands? If so, how reliable do those work?
I heard that FD's voice commands do not require a brief pause before and after and that they can be constructed using full grammars instead of the single fixed words DMD/DMO use. Can you confirm or or reject this?
Thanks in advance, I'd really be interested in anything you could tell me about FD.
Regards, mav

Mav, I am not the best person to ask as I do not use MMODAL Fluency Direct on a daily basis. I have used it enough experimentally, partly in comparison to Dragon, to know that straight dictation is very accurate, but terrible custom command functionality. Hopefully others with more experience will chime in. That said, I think many of your questions can be answered here:

I ran modal for a few years 3 year contract v10 and was ok overall some commands work well but our Org went the DMO way which was provided by the hospital. Works really well for dictation and commands. It's not as robust with all commands but for my needs it works really well for accuracy!
