Our comparison:

1. Nuance simply copied the Philips SpeechMike layout.  We see no advantage with slippery buttons and have a slight preference for the PowerMic III nonslip rubber buttons 

2. The new high-pass filter speaker is a waste of time.  Most of our customers do not want to listen to any playback and those that do, use the superior computer speakers 

3. In our opinion, the term “Trackpoint” is incorrect. It's a touchpad. The term “Trackpoint” was used for the PowerMic II and the turn-of-the-century IBM notebook computers.  Think eraser point. The touchpad, a more accurate term, is also included in the PowerMic III. This isn't a new accessory. In the past, Nuance has been known to advertise pre-existing technology as new again

4. We assume that the PowerMic 4 does not include auto-gain control like the microphone they copied; the Philips SPM3700 and we see no reason for Nuance to create 3 separate cable models. All they had to do was include a complementary 6 foot USB extension cord so that the end user could have a 3 footer and a 9 footer. This would also eliminate the need of the unpopular coiled cord. Big Duh! on Nuance's over complicated marketing. The new PowerMic 4 is pretty much the same microphone as the lower priced SMP3700 (which includes the advantage of auto-gain) and is also now programmed into DMO 

Conclusion: In our opinion, the PowerMic 4 holds no real advantage over the PowerMic III; other than possibly aesthetics.  We have a slight preference for the PowerMic III 

PS: Dragon 15 hates Windows 11 Notepad; even though the DragonBar displays the green •. It doesn't just feature incorrect spacing and capitalization. It even deletes parts of words in front of the cursor

So it's a rebadged SMP, minus the meshed grille and detachable cord, as all but outright acknowledged by this VAR ...

Hey, Nuance could have done worse.

But what advantage, if any, this possibly has over the original SMP?  Just curious that's all.

Any rumored ETA on a revised or V2 of SpeechOne?  That interests me still.  Recently I got a Jabra Engage 55, as recommended for its "superior noise-cancellation".  However, in direct comparison with my Sennheiser MB Pro from KB, the Engage 55 is objectively inferior (so much so that I didn't even bother with checking out the noise-cancelling claim).  The MB Pro is already not fantastic for me (next to the SMP).  Thus I am kind of wondering what shape an "improved" SpeechOne might take ...

In our opinion, the PowerMic 4 advantages are somewhat marginal. We like the larger touchpad and the additional 4 programmable buttons, likes Philips handheld microphones. Unfortunately, the PowerMic 4 only works with DMO and DPA. It does not work in other versions of Dragon like DMPE 4.3.1, DPI or DPG. We have no doubt that Nuance did this deliberately but it still feels like they shot themselves in the foot again  

Fortunately Phillip's handheld microphones work on all Dragon products, are just as accurate, offer more models, include a much better warranty and notably less expen$ive
