I recently came across this headset - theBoom Bone. Https://www.Theboom.Com/v/products/theboom-bone-conduction.Asp It looks like exactly the product I have been searching for well over a year. A headset with bone conduction headphones that are easy on the ears for all-day use, with a microphone that can intercept soft voices in a noisy environment. Has anyone tried this product? Given the high price tag, I am cautious to buy this without a review. Alternatively, it may be worthwhile for knowbrainer to reach out to them if they can send a sample. I sent an email to them, and they responded quickly. The reply was from the CEO, and not from a customer service representative. However, since their target market is not voice recognition, they were not sure if that's the best microphone for this use case. They recommended the boom Pro2. My thinking is that if boom Pro2 works, then so should theBoom bone as the microphone element is hopefully similar. Then there is also the question of connectivity to the PC for which I'm not able to find any information on their website. I think they may be willing to send some samples to knowbrainer and expand their target market for their products. |

Keep in mind that all theBoom microphones utilize the same microphone element. Unless you have a specific reason for getting a bone conduction microphone, which has nothing to do a speech recognition, we think $499 is steep; as are all of their microphones.
We haven't sold their microphone line in several years but found them to be very good at the time. Unfortunately, theBoom mics were poorly constructed and around 25% of our customers returned them. Returns became so much of a problem that we decided to discontinue carrying them on our site. Other microphones only lasted a few months and needed to be exchanged with the manufacturer which didn’t return phone calls and took several weeks to exchange units.
We have a good relationship with UmeVoice and they had us beta-test theBoom Pro-2 and some other units which we have forgotten. None of their microphones made our minimum standards for use with Dragon 15. They seemed genuinely surprised by our findings but it appears that speech recognition might not be there target. We have to give their entire line of microphones a thumbs down ------------------------- Change "No" to "Know" w/KnowBrainer 2022 |
