Since my upgrade to 15.61 there are frequent instances where the first word or two that I dictate is not heard as shown in the Results Box. I notice it mostly in Chrome. I use DragonCapture with AutoPaste and TypeMode 3 checked. I think that the recognition rate might be down a bit too. Microphone check redone. I notice very little response on the microphone check bar but I don't think that ever moved much. I have not changed anything else from 15.1 which worked pretty well. ------------------------- Daniel Zacharias |

Does switching off AutoPaste (simply say "AutoPaste" to toggle between on an off) make any difference?

Sounds like the perfect opportunity to check out Auto Box
Where you won't first have to try "four different type modes" to get it to work
Fully automatic transfers without tedious manual corrections afterwards, because you have full Select-and-Say control ------------------------- Turbocharge your Dragon® productivity with 40 Power Addons |

Turning off Auto Paste does not affect the problem. Indeed, turning off DragonCapture does not change it. The problem also occurs when I dictate into Word It seems to have a prevalence of about 5% of my dictations. I saught support from Nuance on two phone calls. They had me start a new user profile. No change. There were no changes in hardware or conditions except moving up from 15.1 to 15.61 ------------------------- Daniel Zacharias |

Occasionally losing the 1st word in your dictation typically occurs when attempting to dictate over a network or a substandard microphone. ------------------------- Change "No" to "Know" w/KnowBrainer 2022 |

My initial experience is that the problem is gone. Thank you, Lunis.
But you say this is just for test purposes. What is the downside of leaving the auto-gain feature off? ------------------------- Daniel Zacharias |

The advantage of auto-gain control is that Dragon automatically adjusts your volume level to the "theoretical" best sound input level. You can also switch microphones without rerunning the Microphone Check. The advantage of the manual approach is that you control everything. As long as you maintain the approximate same distance and volume level, it should be ideal. It didn't seem to make much difference for us but many end-users are better off with the manual approach.

I've been having some trouble with dropping or inaccurate recognition of the first word in an utterance as well. Juneau, [for example, that was supposed to be "wouldn't you know"] it's been behaving rather well since I started looking for specific examples. Now about 5%, but 40% in this post. I checked the quick tips and otherwise online and snooped around but I can't find an auto-gain control option. Dragon 15.3. I'm reminded of the need to say my dogs name before each command, to get his attention. Is there a similar option, or could one be built in Dragon? Maybe a nonprinting word?

Have you tried creating a new user profile and disabling auto-gain? Note that you can only do this in Ver. 15.61. Nuance didn't discover this problem until after releasing Ver. 15.3. This is detailed in the Ver. 15.61 which is a lifetime download w/Installation/User Guide of Ver. 15.3, Ver. 15.61 and Ver. 15.7.1 (when or if it is released), details on fixing 28 sandtraps and other perks. Note that because of the complexity involved, we are charging a $20 service fee ------------------------- Change "No" to "Know" w/KnowBrainer 2022 |

Thanks Lunis. Laptop is going into the shop soon, I'll look at updating when it's back.
