I have been able to use the following code, thanks again, to open my Groupy files.

Advanced Scripts
Sub Main
AppBringUp "C:\Users\ameri\Desktop\Groupy\WasteBoard.lnk"
End Sub

Now I'm trying to open https://www.knowbrainer.com/forums/forum/categories.cfm?catid=12&entercat=y&CFTREEITEMKEY=12 in Chrome and that works fine as long as I'm in the Chrome address bar.

Now I'm ready for my next step. Opening a URL in Chrome, which, might not be open.  So I have to check to see if Chrome is already running, if it is, enter the URL. If it is not open I need to open Chrome and enter the URL .

Advanced Scripts
Sub Maini
re"> If Chrome is Open
re"> https://www.knowbrainer.com/forums/forum/categories.cfm?catid=12&entercat=y&CFTREEITEMKEY=12
re"> If Chrome not open
re"> Open Chrome
re"> https://www.knowbrainer.com/forums/forum/categories.cfm?catid=12&entercat=y&CFTREEITEMKEY=12
End Sub

It seems that entering the URL twice is bad code but I'm sure the above code would never get me off the ground, not even to the airport.

The following code should work for you.  If Chrome (or any default browser) is not open, it will launch with the specified URL; if it is already open, it will open the URL in a new tab.

Sub Main

Const PROG = "Explore.exe"

Const URL = "https://www.knowbrainer.com/PubForum"

AppBringUp(PROG, URL)

End Sub

Bob,

The Const statement is used to declare a constant (for example, PROG, short for program) in place of a literal value. I used it in my code for clarity; it is not required.  The program could be written as:

Sub Main

AppBringUp("explore.exe", "https://www.knowbrainer.com/PubForum")

End Sub

AppBringUp is easy to use for your specific need. As documented in Dragon help, AppBringUp “starts the specified application, or reactivates it if it is already running.”

I like this method as it launches the default browser, not just Chrome.

You really don't have to go to the trouble of creating these types of commands because they are included in KnowBrainer 2017 (w/2020 AI Commands). Assuming you are using one the latest Builds you can pretty much globally go (as from within any application on your computer) to the homepage of any website via the KnowBrainer Browse to <dictation> AI command. For example if you don't get nailed by “no-brainer” you can say Browse to <KnowBrainer>Browse to <Nuance> ect. If you would like to perform research you can also use the global Google for <dictation> AI command. Try saying Goggle for <what percentage of Tennessee has been vaccinated>. Yikes, less than 20%!

I stop using your program about two months after I purchased it. I found the manual too hard to follow. But I have been thinking maybe the manual has changed and considering giving it another go.

Which leads to the next question: what particular vaccination?

You can test if Chrome is open or an instance of chrome is open with a slightly mutated FindWindow function where you can set the wildcard for the window title to a '0' because an empty string will not work as a wildcard but this will.

Declare Function FindWindow Lib "user32" Alias _
"FindWindowA" (ByVal lpClassName As String, ByVal _
lpWindowName As Long) As Long
'script by Lindsay Adam pcbyvoice
Sub Main
    If (FindWindow ("Chrome_WidgetWin_1",0)) Then
     'do your stuff
    Else
     'do your other stuff
    End If
End Sub

monkey8,

Very nice solution.  How did you determine the class name? I do not have access to Spy++ (Visual Studio). I am thinking a program such as Windows Detective or WinSpy++ might work. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

WinID http://www.winid.com/Download.htm

Note however that the window title can change (although the class name never will), hence the wildcard with the mutated windows API function which will always allow you to find an active instance of chrome. You can use SetForegroundWindow to switch to the instance using the result of find window.

SetForegroundWindow (FindWindow (…))

The usual 4 Southern states (Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama and Arkansas); OK somehow Wyoming also made that list, are running around 30% vaccinated (less than 20% in our hillbilly neck of the woods). This includes a single shot of Pfeiffer, Moderna and J&J combined. Before you ask, the Big Haired Lady and I got vaccinated with J&J at the Bethpage combination gas station, nail salon, bait shop and pharmacy.

Sounds like you have a superstore in Bethpage!  How nice!

Covid Shot. And the person that gave me the shot said thanks for doing that patriotic duty, as I was walking out. Patriotic I said? I did it for me not for Hunter.

I might also mention nobody told me I might lose my hearing. And here I am what what what.

They forgot to emphasize that the vax is EXPERIMENTAL.
It is not approved yet.
So, we have become the new guinea pigs.

No, in the US all three vaccines have been authorized by the FDA.  That's a fact.

I was a guinea pig,, to use your term.  My wife and I enrolled in a J&J vaccine trial and received shots in February and I'm glad we did.

If you want to be part of a science experiment, get infected with Covid-19.  Let us know how it goes.

The Big Haired Lady and I also went with J&J at the Bethpage Hillbilly Veterinary & Baitshop which had no waiting and didn't even need an appointment. Our only concern was the veterinarian repeatedly using the same syringe but we have gotten use to the phrase “we do things different down here”

Ah... Sorry about the confusion. The sign says bait shop but loosely stands for farmer wives/sisters (often the same thing) who are looking to make a little money on the side, if you catch my drift.

Don't know how we got on the COVID-19 vaccination but since I started this post I might as well share. I can give you a lot of my opinions but my opinions might not be worth a grain of salt.

So here it is, just the facts.

Both my wife and I got the virus approximately January 2021, confirmed. My symptoms were very mild. If I compared it to any cold or flu that I've had in the past on a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate it at three. It was very mild. Very low grain headache for a few hours with very mild stomach cramps that lasted maybe 3 or 4 hours. Also, a funky feeling when eating so we decided to get tested and it came out positive.

Got my first Dose COVID-19 (Pfizer EN6202) shot on February 28, 2021 at North Hills Germantown WI.

Got my second Dose COVID-19 (Pfizer EN2613) shot on March 21, 2021 at Froedtert Bluemound Campus Milwaukee WI.

Lost my hearing 1 1/2 weeks later. Hearing aid $2500

Got the COVID-19 a second time approximately September 10, 2021. Again very mild. I did not bother going in for testing since once you have the virus you know as much as a doctor when it comes to the symptoms. I suspect many people that got the virus did not bother going in for testing. But then this is only my opinion, and we know what that's worth right.

So there it is. Would I go in for another shot. A third shot. Very unlikely. As for me my $2500 hearing aid might not do me much good if I have the same results as my second shot. All the stuff you hear on TV, Bingo, Bingo, Bango.

Bob

PS Oh yes. Life is good. Especially being alive at 81, still working my computer.

Hardly worth saying to extend this off-topic discussion, but in 300 years of history (I traced it back to 1717), vaccinations have never worked for anything. The matrix of perceived reality is far, far deeper than most people can even imagine. Most people are in so deep they'll never get out. I've met only a few who are partially out. It's good to read at least a post or two that disagree with the mainstream storyline. Best of luck to us all.
