Is there a recommended wired headset, that works well with the Speechmatic soundcard?

You may get different responses, but one of the most recommended wired headsets is the FlexyMike DEC. However, if you're going to use the FlexyMike DEC with the SpeechMatic USB MultiAdapter, then you need to use it in blue mode. This is partially because Green mode is for the TravelMike and partially because if you attempt to use the FlexyMike DEC in Green mode, it will be too loud and won't pass the audio set up for DNS.

That being said, I'll let anyone else who would like to make their recommendations do so.

The SpeechWare FlexyMike DEC is our favorite Road warrior microphone and we use it in greenlight mode with the SpeechWare SpeechMatic MultiAdapter. It depends on the volume level of your voice but we originally set the volume level, during the Audio Check, by speaking a little softer than we would normally. After you finish the Audio Check, you can dictate normally because the SpeechMatic MultiAdapter will automatically decrease your volume input via its built in auto gain control. It should be noted that we speak louder than the average speaker. This isn't to say that many other microphones, like the Audio-Technica Pro 8HEmW wouldn't work equally well. We're just giving you our preferred solution for noisy environments.

When it comes to speech recognition equipment we purchase the best because even when it's slow, we work 70+ hours per week. We spend most of our time on our office computer but when we are on the road, we utilize a dual microphone approach. Our solution is to combine the FlexyMike DEC with the SpeechWare TravelMike. Here's how it works. When we are using our notebook computer, we are typically sitting in an airport, the back of a taxi, on a plane or a brothel hotel room. The FlexyMike DEC is probably one of the most comfortable headset microphones we've ever worn but what's even more comfortable is not having to wear a headset. We use the TravelMike, which features the same SpeechWare USB soundcard, in our hotel room where it's quiet. We can even use it on the plane but only because the noise is constant. We wouldn't have a prayer of using the TravelMike in an airport so we unplug the six-inch gooseneck TravelMike microphone element and plug in our FlexyMike. If you're wondering if we left out the step where we have to rerun the Audio Check, we didn't. One of the advantages of the SpeechMatic MultiAdapter, which is built into the TravelMike, is the auto-level volume control which typically eliminates the need to rerun the Audio Check when you plug in another microphone.

We are not necessarily recommending purchasing a $249 TravelMike and a $189 FlexyMike but if you are a road warrior, it might be worth factoring this dual microphone combination option into your decision.
