how do you make "Search the web for" use duck duck go instead of Google in Dragon NaturallySpeaking?

Any advice appreciated, Tremulous Tetra. :-)

In your %PROGRAMDATA%\Nuance\NaturallySpeaking15 folder you'll find a file "iwcsp.ini" where the search provider is being configured.

While I cannot tell you exactly what to enter and where, the file itself is quite self-explaining.

Make a backup and then simply try it out

When I simply replace every instance of the word Google with the word duckduckgo in the iwcsp.ini file;

In the address bar it says;
https://duckduckgo.com/search?q=jam&ia=meanings
but it hasn't done the search for the word "jam"

I'm guessing I need to modify this is;
search?q=jam&ia=meanings

Any advice appreciated, Tremulous Tetra. :-)

Hi again!

Every search engine has its own flavor of URL and parameters, of course.

If you perform a simple (manual) search with duckduckgo.com, the results page will have aURL like https://duckduckgo.com/?q=dragon&va=b&t=hr&ia=web if you search for "dragon".

The important part seems to be the parameter q=... for the top level URL (unlike google, where you have to use the /search part).

So in order to get it to work correctly, you have to use the correct URLS:

Replace

http://www.google.com/search?q={search-keywords}

with

https://duckduckgo.com/?q={search-keywords}

and you should be fine (adjusted for your language and search preferences of course).

hth,

mav
