I'm sure when I first installed Dragon NaturallySpeaking professional drag mouse command worked. However, it hardly ever works with PDF files or websites.
When I try to drag the mouse I get a notification on the Dragon bar "mouse mode" in a green box, but did doesn't work.

Any ideas what might be going wrong very much appreciated.

Dragon mouse tracking commands can be somewhat tricky and simply won't work in all situations. This technology dates back to the previous century. You might have better luck saying SHOW Numbers followed by saying Drag <number> to <number>, which requires SpeechStart+ and optionally available in a 15 day trial.

Thank you for your reply. The problem is I've spent £270 on Dragon and really can't afford to purchase another program.

SpeechStart+ is only $40 but KnowBrainer 2017 (hands-free third-party command utility) is free to anyone with any disability. You'll find a complimentary download in the email address you used to join this forum. Please also note that we sell Dragon too but our version includes our exclusive KnowBrainer Dragon Installation/Training Guide which is complementary to our Dragon customers.

I thought you guys kicked me off of this forum ages ago because somehow there were about 100 posts sent under my name but I never sent them.  I was never able to straighten out explaining the situation and I was very shocked when I just saw my name listed as a senior member with over 100 posts.

I would love to clear my name if that is ever possible and return to your good graces.  You guys are an invaluable resource, especially for a tetraplegic.

This forum and word-of-mouth are our only advertising sources. When it comes to Dragon resellers, paid advertising is the only way to rise to the top but advertising doesn't pay off. It is impossible to Google compete against the manufacturer, Amazon etc. Of course this forum has been #1 sense 1999. We'll have to settle for that but if you look at the top of the page you will see buttons labeled Presales Chat, Dragon, Microphones, and Recorders which we hoped would suffice. Possibly our best perk is the KnowBrainer Dragon Installation/Training Guide, which is complementary to our Dragon customers.

We are not certain what you meant by “kicked me off”, which we don't recall. Only spammers are banned. You are in our good graces already and we prefer not to delete your posts because it would interrupt the continuity of numerous threads. We have you in our records listed as disabled and sent you a copy of KnowBrainer 2017 (w/2020 AI Commands) some time ago. It is time for you to update your current copy which is likely 4 years out of date. You can update by running KBCommandsUpdater.

Dragon 101. When using the mouse drag commands, you got to have something to drag. Otherwise, it won't work. Should be a Duh? If you want to just move the mouse pointer, it’s mouse move commands.

Hi Robert,

Without third-party products, simulating mouse actions by voice is usually time-consuming and error-prone.

It's often possible to perform tasks without the need to drag, move the mouse pointer, or click.

Can you give an example of what you want to do via simulated mouse actions. There may be other ways.

Robert,

You should listen to the prudent experts in here. Mouse dragging the old way is old hat now. SpeechStart + will solve all your problems easily and is very inexpensive.

However, mouse dragging still works if you really want to go down that route.

Examples of the commands are:

"Drag/Move Mouse" Up, Down, Left, Right, Lower Left etc., "Drag/Move Mouse Upper Right".

You can change the direction of the mouse/cursor while it is still moving.

You can speed the mouse up or slow it down while it is moving by saying,
"Faster," "Very Fast," "Much Faster," "Slower," "Very Slow," Much Slower."

To stop the mouse, say, "Mouse Click," "Stop" or "Cancel."

You can also move the mouse in any direction in small segments by saying,

"Mouse Up/Down/Left/Right/ <1-10>"

This is only a Dragon command. The most it can move you in any direction is up to 10 segments which is not very much and pretty useless really.

If you are disabled then I would take Lunis up on his offer and add KnowBrainer. It is free to anybody who is disabled.

With KnowBrainer added to Dragon, then you can move the mouse in any direction by saying, "Mouse Up/Down/Left/Right/ <1-5000 >." Then, this command gives you more clout with scope to move the mouse around the screen.

Cheers

Dr Cowie,

Indeed SpeechStart+ does a very good job with dragging files. The numbering procedure is usually the preferred method. However sometimes you just want to keep the mouse button pressed on a specific file or folder so that you can drag it around manually or by means of a headmouse.

In that case you may be interested in the small program I have just released on my website: SP Press Utility it is the fastest way to press mouse buttons by voice because it uses fast standalone executables and no Advanced Scripting.

If you combine this utility with SpeechStart+ or VoiceComputer you get powerful commands like Press <number> and Press Right <number> . You can also conveniently combine this utility with the KnowBrainer mouse direction commands that Tiger Feet mentioned.
