I'm using this on a regular basis and would like a wireless headset and I would also like to know which software is the best and most accurate currently I am using Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 standard and it is pretty accurate but does make many mistakes because of how often I'm using it I would like something better if it is available I am also using one of the kno-brainer headsets but it's a wired headset and sometimes the wires get tangled so really like a wireless headset.

So I am looking for suggestions on

1. Wireless headset

2. The best software for dictation that is the most accurate.

Thanks

1. We refer to the KnowBrainer headset as our version of a pro-starter microphone, which is considerably better than the “starter microphones” that Nuance bundles with DNS. If you're looking to kick it up a notch, you might consider checking out the BlueParrott Xpressway bluetooth wireless microphone which shouldn't break the bank. You'll find other wireless solutions in our the wireless microphone section of our website.

2. Although we do not like DNS Standard and don't believe anyone should use anything less than DNS Preferred, DNS Standard does have the same speech engine which means that you are already using the most accurate speech recognition software that we know of.

Wireless, as the name implies, means no wire between the microphone and the soundcard. Bluetooth is a specific type of wireless microphone such as 1.9 GHz (popular with wireless telephones) and UHF (popular with wireless vocal microphones).

To find all the differences between DNS Standard and DNS Preferred click on the NaturallySpeaking
Comparison Matrix. However, some of the major differences are no text-to-speech playback, no ability to transcribe digital recordings, no ability to create any kind of command and not supported by KnowBrainer.

To add a little to the advice from Lunis.  You will see if you check the NaturallySpeaking Comparison Matrix that support for Bluetooth microphones is only available in Professional and Preferred and not Standard (Bluetooth microphones require a different Language Model to "other" microphones) .

You are already using the most accurate speech recognition software (arguably) but remember that accuracy depends not only upon the hardware and software but much more upon the users style of dictation.  As a rough figure some 70% of accuracy is down to dictation style.

Dragon is most accurate when you enunciate clearly (but not over enunciate) and speak in complete sentences or at least full phrases.  Short choppy dictation and "conversational speech" are likely to produce errors.  The style of speaking used by radio newsreaders will give the best results. Whatever it says on the box Dragon requires the user to learn "how to speak Dragon".

In addition to the VXI Xpressway BT microphone, I am also using the JABRA M5390 bluetooth microphone and for me they give equally good results.

It is of course a question of price and personal preferences at the end of the day.

If you go Bluetooth, you will need a suitable Bluetooth dongle that will Bluetooth enable any computer. Some laptops are already Bluetooth enabled and would not require a dongle unless there is a problem in connecting (pairing)

I love this software and would like to upgrade so I can use the bluetooth.

So can someone advise me on the best place/price to get the professional or the preferred version of the software? How can I find out if my laptop has bluetooth? Its a HP dv6-1245dx and its about 5 months old.

Thank you for all of your help!

Check out the specifications for your computer. It should tell you.

You can go to the Knowbrainer shop via the link at the top of the page for starters

If you go to the Device Manager in the Control Panel in Windows, most probably, it should look something like this:

As you can see from this screenshot, and please keep in mind that this is a German Windows, the Bluetooth device on my laptop is currently deactivated, because of all the cell phones and other activated devices being around in the office, as well as the Wireless Network Adapter.

Unfortunately all of your menus are open which makes it nearly impossible to see all the little icons but from what we could tell, your computer doesn't appear to have built-in Bluetooth. You will need to add a Bluetooth dongle to use a Bluetooth microphone.
