Custom commands will not execute

Hello

I am a brand new Dragon user and I need help pls! Lol

I am running Dragon 12 legal and i am trying to make custom commands in Word2003. I am a court reporter so I am attempting to learn Dragon to help with producing court transcripts. I use an add on to word called professional court reporters toolkit wich is macro based to help speed up transcription as the macros automatically do you format and insert exhibits to table of contents.

So what i am trying to do is get dragon to recognize my macro to insert a speaker. So generally i would type alt plus period and in pops my speaker in the correct format, or it could be alt plus b. anyway i have been trying to make a macro command and a step by step with simple keystroke and when i ask dragon to execute the command, it recognizes my command word with a blue box but it does not insert any text into the document

Pls help!

Firefox tab switching command

Ctrl + Shift + PageUp these keystrokes will move one TAB to the left in the Firefox web browser.

The only command that actually functioned was when I recorded these keystrokes.

The following Advanced Scripting commands just Page Down in Firefox, version 20.0.1

How do I get Dragon to recognize the mouse wheel?

For work, I use a program called Mentor Graphics to look at technical drawings. To zoom in and zoom out on a drawing, the "press up/down, the scroll up/down and the page up/down" commands do not work for zooming in or out of the drawing. Only the scrolling wheel can do that. I use a Humanscale Switch Mouse, which has a "navigation dish" instead of a scrolling wheel, on which I can click up/down/left/right. When trying to create a custom command, Dragon cannot recognize clicks on the mouse wheel/navigation dish.

Does anyone know how to make Dragon recognize a mouse wheel? I will gladly switch back to normal mouse if I can get Dragon to recognize the mouse wheel.

I know nothing about scripting and I almost flunked the only computer programming class I took. However, any help you give me I can take to someone who knows what they're doing. And everyone at work is more than happy to help a cripple like me.

Citrix Client

I imported my advanced script commands from my computer at work to my home computer, which I use to work from home.

I had to download Citrix ICA Client. So, I downloaded the application, imported my commands, and edited the properties to make them operable in Citrix. Unfortunately, the commands are not working as I was hoping. i.e. in the command below, the HeardWord line is supposed to navigate to the Use Name part of the screen. Instead it types out "user name"

Problem with using lists in Advanced Scripting

I have set up a command to which will carry out a number of steps and then also insert a number from 1-100 using ListVar1.

For some reason, it spells out twelve, fifteen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty, thirty, forty, fifty, etc but for most other numbers is actually give me 2 , 3, 4, 21, 23, etc.

I cant figure out why this is happening. Its not due to the the formatting setting in Dragon where you can control that because we have our options set numbers if greater than 10.

If I say 18 by itself, it types 18. If I say 18 within the command, it spells is out. I have tried to use the spoken/written form in the List but then when I say a number that works, the command errors out.

If anyone has any ideas, I would love the help.

I work with high school students with disabilities, and I have to do an intake note for each student. It looks something like this:

I would my DNS pro advance script to prompt me to dictate each of the fields and once I comply with the prompting, go to the next field automatically.

Making custom mousegrids

I'm trying to make a series of scripts that are similar to mousegrid but I'm fairly new at python scripting. I want to be able to make different grids that overlap a collection of bottons in Ableton Live. For example, one grid would be 52 rows and 10 collumns.

So first things first, is there anyway to make a custom grid overlay complete with labeled numbers?

I can say Press Windows key equals and it works.

It appears that Dragon has flambe'd itself. All of my commands that use SetMousePosition do nothing at all. The cursor does not move. This has happened since I tried to set a pagefile per Lunis' instructions at my topic "DNS hangs" (http://www.knowbrainer.com/forums/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=4&threadid=16034&highlight_key=y).

I then applied DavidW advice to correct permissions and furth hell has accrrued.

QuickBooks timer

Hello

Newbie here, and I am trying to create a command prompting the QuickBooks timer to start. I want the command to switch to QuickBooks, and then press the appropriate keystrokes to start the timer. However, I am running into two problems.

first, in the step-by-step type command, the only option seems to be to open QuickBooks, instead of to switch to it if it's already open. so, when I run the command, it tries to open a second copy of QuickBooks, which is not allowed.

Second, I tried to create a application specific command, (called "timer") that I could run in QuickBooks. however, when I run the command I get a "unknown field text" error, even though I can dictate each step of the command without a problem. (I.e., "press alt + Y", "press S", etc.)

Any tips? I am running Dragon 12.5 professional on Windows 8.

Alternative to SendKeys

Is there a faster alternative to using SendKeys? I read that SendInput is more reliable and faster but I cannot get it to work. I may not be formatting the script right though. Any ideas?

MS Word and Dragon freezing with a relatively simple script

I'm having a strange issue. When I try to print with an advanced scripting command, Word freezes. And then Dragon won't work again until I either restart my computer or use Task Manager to kill all the Dragon processes.

If I do the exact steps of the command manually, it's fine. Lengthening the wait periods to as much as 8 seconds doesn't help. And if I remove that last line (Enter), it works fine-- I just have to hit enter manually then. Does anyone know why this happens? This is the script:

Advanced Scripting - Toggle sleep

Hi All,

I'm trying to do something that I think should be quite straightforward, but I can't quite figure it out. I want to create a script (Let's call it Toggle Sleep) that will check the current state of the microphone and set it accordingly, ie if the microphone is off then turn it on, if it is on then put it to sleep and if it is asleep then wake it up.

I'm fine with setting the microphone states, but I can't figure out how to check what the current state is. From the help it would appear that GetState and SetState are vaguely related to this, but if they are I can't figure out how to use them. The help is somewhat terse in this regard. In pseudocode, this is what I'm aiming for:

Just for a little background, I'm trying to bind the record button on a Philips Speechmike 3500 to toggle sleep instead of fully turning the microphone on and off. I want to use the record button as a toggle, instead of deadman switch. This means I can only set a single Dragon command to fire when I press the record button, and there doesn't seem to be one existing that handles this for sleep. If there is a command I can use already, that would be great.

The reason I want to use sleep instead of just turning the microphone on and off is because we use it integrated with a RIS that controls most of the functions via the SDK. The integration is a bit shaky and we don't get quick fixes from the RIS guys, so we need to work around a few odd issues. Unfortunately, if you turn the microphone off then there is a 5 - 30 second delay when you first turn it back on for the RIS system to realise you aren't doing straight digital dictation and send the audio through to Dragon. This delay does not occur if you use sleep instead. With the SpeechMikes however, it is very natural to just turn the microphone on and off as you are starting and stopping talking - especially since this is the default behaviour for the record button - and this leads to these delays occuring extremely often, most notably when you have dictated a paragraph and then go back to correct it. The Select/correct commands then take 5 - 30 seconds to actually do anything, which is a tad frustrating.

Any ideas/help would be appreciated - I've done a bit of searching through the forums and on the web but I can't seem to find anyone trying to do the same thing, although I might just not be looking hard enough. We are using Dragon Medical 11, a mix of the US and UK editions as we have radiologists from both the UK and US in our department here in NZ.

*EDIT* I should also mention that for some reason I can't get the hot key for toggle sleep to be called correctly from the SpeechMike - I'm using v3.1 of the Philips Speech Control app for the SpeechMike, and it seems to be incapable of sending hot keys through.

Dropping characters

I have been using the following code for some years now to lookup diagnosis codes from an Access table, and put it into text. Recently, and now with some more frequency (but not always), the resulting text has been missing 1-5(or more) characters from the front of the typed text. Ie, it would type "vical Strain(847.0)" rather than "Cervical Strain(847.0):. As I said, this is not consistant as far as when or the number of characters dropped. I tried putting in the Wait, but that didn't seem to change anything. Often I can just clear everything and redo my command and it works fine. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated...

Advanced Scripting...what are valid Window names?

Our new EMR starts each window title with the patient's last name...so every window title is sort of unique. For example, " JONES, JOHN - MEDICATIONS". DNS Scripting help states to use the full name of the window by getting it from a drop-down list. And yet the window's title can then be edited in the MyCommands Editor.

Anyone know of a way that one could use wildcards to identify an open window...i.e. "*" or "?"...I've tried can't seem to get it to work.

"Next Field" in Citrix

My corporate masters have decided to switch us to web-based applications via Citrix. DNS does not get along well with Citrix, especially advanced scripting. I've changed all SendKeys commands to SendDragonKeys with generally good success.

However, I was using the "Next Field" command quite a bit, and it simply doesn't work in Citrix. Has anyone come up with a short script that simulates "Next Field"?

How do I create I text file with a time stamp from a User Dialog with Advanced Scripting?

I'd like to have a simple backup routine for filling out an Advanced Scripting user dialog.

The text spoken into the fields should be stored in a new text file. The text file should be named with a time stamp like "yymmdd hh.mm.txt" (ex: 130125 13.08.txt) in a folder.

The problem is that the User Form sometimes fails to paste the contents of the fields in the proper application. All dictation is lost. I'd like to prevent that from happening.

I am aware of appending the method for appending a text file - described here and here. I can't find anything on how to create a file.

DNS 12 Premium - Custom Commands Question - How to include graphics?

Hi,

I recently started using DNS 12 Premium and love it. When I dictate a letter I have successfully made a new command where I say "insert address" and it inserts my home address etc. In order to make this command I selected the text I had dictated and formatted and said "make this a command". Everything was fine.

I want to create a similar command for the end of my letters. I have a digital copy of my signature (in .jpeg format) that I use for signing letters etc. I want to create a command that inserts:

I have tried selecting the text and saying "make this a command" but it doesnt transfer the picture to the new command box.

I have copied the picture to the clipboard, manually made a new command and pasted the picture into the command box, but when I say "insert signature" all I get is:

How do make sure the picture is included in the command? Does it need to be a certain type of image file, so far I've tried .jpeg .bmp and .gif files with no luck. For what its worth I'm using Word 2010.

Zoomtext and DNS Pro Macros

Hi, all,

I am working with someone with limited vision and mobility. She will be using Zoomtext at 5X magnification and DNS Pro with a laptop and a lightweight second monitor mounted on a laptray on a tilt in space wheelchair. I thought that the dual monitor support would allow me to anchor the correction dialog box on the secondary monitor and enlarge it, but it doesn't. Some I am looking at other options and have some questions.

It looks like the Correction Dialog Box is hard coded. Is there a way to change the font size on this? I thought perhaps in options.ini or ToolTips or something, but I can't find anything.

Since she requires such large text, I thought that she could type everything into the Dictation Box, where it does allow for font size change. I would like to have the Dictation Box show up on the secondary monitor to allow for more viewing of content on primary using Zoomtext, but even when you anchor the Dictation Box to the secondary monitor, it pops back up to the primary monitor. My work around is to have a voice command to drag the Dictation Box to the secondary monitor. This is what I wrote in advance scripting but it is not working. What am I missing, or is there a better way?

Is there anyway you can record a macro in MS Word, copy the Visual Basic Code and paste it into the advanced scripting area when you are creating a command? I have tried this but have not been able to it and I am wondering if I am missing something.

Very Basic Formatting Question

I use DNS Pro (or am attempting to!) for simple insurance claim statements in a question and answer format.

I want to make a Macro that looks like this for question.

I need it to make a new paragraph before the Q:, have a tab after it, and begin the question after that with a capital letter.

I went in and made commands by inserting a line space before and a tab after and named them Qmac and Amac and I'm getting single spaced Q: and A: with no tab after and, of course, the first letter not being capped.

Can someone give me hints on how to do this? Luckily, these are the only two formatting issues I'll ever have.

And is it written down anywhere step by step how to do things like this? I'm such a newbie, I don't even know the right words to search for it.

Code for obtaining windows user ID

Does anyone know how to pull the Windows User ID by creating a command?

I am trying to pull the user ID and then assign and type the last 2 letters of that user's last name. The user ID is formatted first initial last name.

Does that make sense?

I figured out how to pull the User ID but now I would like to associate that user ID with the first three letters of the users last name.

Anchor cursor when using DragonPad

I am currently using DragonPad as a editor for users of an EMR system. They tell Dragon to navigate to a field, the cursor is placed in the correct field, and then DragonPad opens as the editor. Unfortunately, when they open it up the cursor is no longer anchored in their field for when text is pasted back. I know this works for the Dictation Box, but is it possible for the same result with the DragonPad?

All three of these are dependent on having custom plug-ins installed and the actual menu manipulation presented here would need to be adjusted depending upon the actual location of these particular effects in the menu structure.

These macros are screen resolution dependent, the first SetMousePosition must place the mouse over the words "Brush width:".

Windows Media Center Advanced Scripting not working

Trying to use Advanced Scripting to send keyboard shortcuts to Windows Media Center so that I can view and controlled my TV hands-free while in bed.

For whatever reason the advanced scripting commands are not working within Windows Media Center. I'd like to create a command that is: "go to live TV" that is application-specific to Windows Media Center and as simple as below:

Sub Main

SendDragonKeys "{ctrl+t}"

End Sub

For whatever reason I can't get it or any other commands to work within Windows Media Center. I can say "control T" and have the desired action happen.

Anyone have any luck with this?

Written command to All Caps selected text

I am attempting to write a script that will "All Caps" selected text. I have tried to use the Heard Word "All-Caps", "that"
HeardWord "\All-Caps","That"

Neither of these seemed to be recognized by Dragon. Although, when I speak the actual "All-Caps that" command it does work correctly, and the text remains "All Capped" when I transfer it to another application.

I have also found that when I use the Windows shortcut Ctrl+Shift+a, the selected text is capitalized, but when transferred out and pasted somewhere else only the standard Caps remains.

I imagine this is a known issue, I just haven't been able to find a solution. Any help is much appreciated.

Script to redirect users to different profile and data dist. folders over Terminal Services

I am attempting to run Dragon Medical 10.3.1 using RDP and Terminal Services. Since users will need to have multiple types of profiles depending on the job they are doing that shift, I need to redirect each profile to a different Data Dist. and preferably a user specific Roaming Profile directory. Unfortunately, when users connect they are only able to use one set of defaults and one roaming profile directory. Since the Dragon installed on the server has only one set of ini's, then everyone who connects has to use those defaults. I was wondering if there was a script that I could set to auto-start after RDP connection is made to direct dragon to load different user specific ini's. Any help is much appreciated.

Scripting Sharepoint

Hi everyone,

Does anybody have any hints or tips with regard to scripting Microsoft SharePoint, specifically the web portal version? I'm currently working with somebody who has this system and yet I'm finding it very difficult to get this working. Even though this is web-based none of the links on the page seem to respond to voice commands and there doesn't seem to be a huge amount in the way of shortcut keys to navigate about either. This is in contradiction to Microsoft's own statement regarding SharePoint as it being fantastically accessible! I also work with people who use screen readers and I think I would probably struggle there as well! :-)

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Linking user dialog to a window?

I am developing a macro for a client who wants to voice enable an application. The macro consists mainly of a voice-activated user dialogue with five fields.

Pops up in background

I have no problems creating the user form, but it always pops up in the background instead of the foreground. The client is working with Windows 7, the Dragon icon taskbar flashes orange when the user dialogue is called.

Just to make it clearer:

It does not appear in the front like the dictation box, but in the background, hidden from the user's view.

So the client has to click on the Dragon taskbar icon to make the form appear.

Text may go anywhere

Next issue: The window is not linked to the program where I need the text. In fact, if the window is in the wrong order, the text from the form may go anywhere but where it is needed.

Questions

Can I force the user dialog to appear with an Advanced Scripting command that switches the focus to the user dialogue? It has a distinct title (KG-Eintrag).

Can I force the user dialog to enter the input in one program only?

Is there any way to attach the user dialogue to a window like the dictation box does?

Any experience with this kind of issues?

Using Lists with HeardWord Commands

I'm using Dragon Medical Enterprise Network Edition 10.1.

I'm trying to write an advanced scripting command that utilizes other advanced scripting commands that contain lists. For example, the line would look like this:

HeardWord "Order", "Urine", "Cath"

Where "Cath" is an option in the list <specsrc> for the command Order Urine <specsrc>

The command works flawlessly up until that line. Punctuation is exact, so I know it's not that. If HeardWord does not allow for executing commands that contain lists, is there another option to do this?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Loss of commands

Over the last few weeks I am findng that I am losing the ability to use the commands that i have created. Commands that don't work include advanced scripts that I have written as well as knowbrainer commands such as Number 2 or delete bookmarks. The problem may occur every 15-20 minutes and it requires me to close down both Dragon Medical 11 and Knowbrainer 2011 and then restart. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both dragon medical and knowbrainer with no effect. the problem is more likely to occur if the computer has other programs such as outlook in the background. the problem is less likley to occur if the computer has been restarted but usually starts to occur after several hours. I have created a new user profile in dragon and the problem still occurs. I get the following error message when I close dragon medical and knowbrainer 2011. The error message is an unexpected c0000005 (Exception_Acess_Violation) has occurred. Information has been written to dragon.log. I have enclosed the dragon.log file.

Any thoughts as to how I can resolve this problem.

Locking Commands

How do you go about "locking" a command? I have some commands that I would like to distribute at work, but need to have them "locked" so that no changes can be made to the name or contents (since it directs to some websites within the institution). I did a search and could not find any literature on how to do it. I also did a search on the forum and didn't see any discussions before. I know it can be done because when I first started using Dragon I had been given some commands that were "locked". I didn't use them and deleted them a while back.

Anybody have any ideas?

in Dragon 12, I was wondering how to grab more than one thing at a time in a list of things for example the equivalent of pressing shift and the down arrow. Ideally I would like to be able to do something that could allow me to grab two files, or five files or 10 files etc.

I'm hoping this forum might be a useful place to get assistance.

I have recently been given Dragon Naturally Speaking Pro ver 9.51 at work. (I appreciate this is quite an out of date version now but I have little choice in the matter.)

I need to use a PEGA based system to record the hours spent on a particular topic. To use the system I need to navigate through a series of boxes in an internet explorer window, some with pre-defined and limited options, and some with free text. Where there are limits to what I can enter into the boxes I always pick the same options and so the only true variable (for me) is the length of time on a task.

I would like a script where I could simply say, “Record x hours effort”, x being a number from say 1 to 10, and the script would then move through the various boxes, select the predefined entries that I need and enter x into the hours worked box when it got to it.

I have been able to put a straightforward script together which moves through the boxes using the tab key but I can’t get it to type x.

I’ve tried variants on ‘SendDragonKeys “{+ListVar1+}”’ (without single quotes) where a variable <number> is given in the command name which goes from 1 to 20. This seems to type the number without a problem in Word, but not in internet explorer. The version of Internet Explorer is 6, which is extremely out of date, but again, I have no choice in this.

The alternative if I can’t get this to work would be to enter all the consistent data and simply navigate back to the free text box, but I would prefer something neater if possible.

I have multiple complicated macros written in Python. Since Natlink does not work in DNS12, has the language been improved over the ancient one that has existed. Specifically I need the ability to identify where the insertion point is located (not the same as the pointer or mouse position) and then move it to a predetermined spot. I have other complex requirements that are easy in python but impossible or difficult in visual basic (or in the abreviated version so far in dragon).

To Lunis & Chucker: Do either of your proprietary programs have this capability?

Voice recognition/accuracy

I am having some problems with the Dragon software. Most of the time when I try to reply to e-mails the software/microphone doesn't recognize what I say. This means that it literally types nothing when I speak into it (microphone). DNS also sometimes does not dictate what I tell it. I am wondering if the problem has to do with incorrect microphone positioning, the wrong cables plugged into my Andrea adapter. Help is very much appreciated thank you.

Insert address from Outlook contacts

Is DNS to the point where I can say something akin to "Start a letter to John Smith," and DNS will (1) open a new Microsoft Word file based on my pre-existing letter template; (2) insert at the appropriate location John Smith's address, as found in my Outlook contacts; and (3) start transcribing my letter at the appropriate location.

I ask because I am considering purchasing DNS, and I haven't found a clear answer to this question. My guess is that I can create a macro that will start a new letter, and get so far as to open the "insert address" dialog box in Word, but I'll then have to use DNS to navigate the dialog box and choose the appropriate contact.

Firefox inactivates commands

I have recently run into an intersting problem. If I run DNS11.5 on my IE based EMR, things work smoothly. If I load another browser (so that I may have two windows open since the EMR does not allow this) then my commands stop working in many cases. It is always the samwe commands, some do work. I get the error "at line 1 in script Scripting Object" Even if I rewrite the command to put other lines in, it still is line1.

As a matter of fact, I am hand typing this since Dragon will not at this point transcribe int this window.

Even if I use thwe dictation box, it will not trasfer.

This feels like a really dumb question, so bare with me.

Im trying to create a script that will run the find mouse position, then put the copied command into a new Command. Currently I have to achieve this by running the Find Mouse position command then clicking the Dragon bar and running my new macro command.

Does anyone know a way to change the active window to the dragon bar so that I can merge the two commands?

enabling / disabling the Dictation box in Dragon 12

Hi all,

does anyone have an idea how to create a command that toggles the default "use dictation box for non-supported applications"?

I like the feature for dictation into Firefox etc, but would like to turn it off before I dictate into some applications. For example, I was able to use the calculator by voice in DNS 11, but now the dictation box comes up. I'd like to say "disable dictation box" before making my calculations and then "enable dictation box" to take advantage of the feature to dictate forum posts etc.

HeardWord is not an option :-)
