Depending on what I need to do, I use all three of the most popular browsers. I'm really trying to take Lunis's advice and stick to Internet Explorer, and I'm using it more and more, so I really need to find out how to deal with (hands-free) that annoying pop-up box at the bottom that appears sometimes when the program starts to ask you if you want to disable add-ons, every time you download a file, insert a password, etc. Is there a way to deal with that thing besides using MouseGrid?

Also, is anyone aware of any videos showing someone surfing hands-free or manipulating files, using this forum, or doing anything hands-free using knowbrainer?

Complex voice-activated scripting in Windows 8?

Currently using Windows XP. Dragon Naturally Speaking plus Dragonfly.

Moving to Windows 8. NaturallySpeaking has a problem with Flash Player or Acrobat. Version 12 doesn't have the Flash Player problem, but it doesn't work with Natlink/Dragonfly.

I would like to try installing Dragonfly with Windows Speech Recognition. But I cringe at the thought of trying to use WSR to replace NaturallySpeaking for dictation and automation.

I need this scripting functionality... Holding the mouse button down with a voice command. Releasing the mouse button with a voice command. Using a voice command to hold the mouse button for 2 seconds and then release it, same with the right mouse button. Those are for clicking and dragging simply by speaking the command and moving the mouse, without manually holding the mouse button. Getting the pointer position in a script. Resetting the pointer position later in the same script. Audible prompts within a script, like a simple beep, to help with timing, like for the click-and-drag mentioned above.

Only Natlink dependent stuff can do that?

Adding single quotes

In KB 2011 I had used the following as part of a script to add a single quote to a character string:

SendSystemKeys "{'}"

However, KB 2012 Rev B rejects this line. Is there another way to enter a single quote?

My full KB 2011 command adds quotes to a string of existing numbers so that, for example, 1234 (without quotes) becomes '1234' (with quotes). The single quotes are required in parameters that are entered into an institutional data query tool.

First I want to say thanks for giving me knowbrainer, I'm disabled and I think I'll use it a lot!

I just installed knowbrainer and I'm trying to add commands for league of legends. I pressed add application, added it an wrote:

Sendkeys "{Q}"

now I need help, saying the command name in the application does nothing, so how do I use it? the command name is ''hello''. but it isn't recognized.

Does it matter if dragon is set to dutch? should I put it on english?

Is it possible to disable all commands except for one application?

Are there any guides for this program? I now have the VerbalBasic manual.

Knowbrainer script examples

I have in front of me the "verbal basic user manual and training guide" at the bottom of page 3 I see "macro tools for knowbrainer advanced scripting". Then at the top of page 4 I see a note that "the following verbal basic commands are designed to work in the knowbrainer Command Browser but we also support the NaturallySpeaking Command Browser… "

Following this I see two "keystroke examples" and maybe 20 "script examples". What am I to make of these examples? What are they examples of? What should I do with these examples? What is the relationship between these examples and Microsoft's Visual Basic programming line? (Are these examples of useful commands that are a part of Visual Basic, are these extensions to Visual Basic, are these part of a separate and different language?) How might I go about entering one of these examples, given that they do seem rather difficult enter in a hands-free mode.

Moving farther down I see an example of a "simple loop" followed by some examples of "complex loops". Again, how should I interpret these examples? For example, what am I to make of:

Having read the document very carefully up to this point, I don't see anything that explains to me what this means. I am at a loss as to what to do with these letters that I see on the page.

Moving down in the document, I arrived at page 7. Here I discovered "keystroke commands". What are these? Am I supposed to type these things into a window somewhere and execute them? Do I pass them as variables to something? Am I supposed to speak them somewhere?

From page 8 I see "scripting commands". Again I see what looks like a dump of code, but no explanation as to what this is, where I would use it, or whether it is something I would say or type or otherwise.

Can you give me some direction as to what all of these code snippets mean?

Macro for creating HeardWord commands

Hi everyone,

I use the heardword feature a lot. I use Dragon 10, so therefore I'm editing an existing DVC file.

I first have to open the command browser, browse to an empty, or already used, DVC command, and then type the word HeardWord a couple of times, depending on how big the command is going to be.

Is there any way to create a macro that automatically brings up an empty DVC file that already has the word: HeardWord available a couple of times (preferably with some empty quotes) And which than, after editing, can be saved as a new command?

Alt+Tab vs. appswapwith

I must be missing something someplace as I see that it is not possible to use sendkeys "{alt+tab}" in the Command Browser. In constructing a small script I needed to have the script return to Outlook to copy an e-mail inbox item but alt + tab does not work.

Delete all bookmarks

I would appreciate any help regarding a problem I am having with the "delete all bookmarks" command. I have created the following physical examination template, for example, which is editable using a series of bookmarks:

General: [01] patient in no acute distress. Comfortable.

Cardiovascular: [02] regular rate and rhythm. No murmur or gallop.

Lungs: [03] clear bilaterally without basilar crackles, rhonchi, or wheezes. Breathing is unlabored.

Abdomen: [04] soft, nontender. No abdominal distention.

Neuro: [05] awake, alert, responsive. No abnormal movements. Moving all extremities.

Extremities: [06] good perfusion. No acrocyanosis. No peripheral edema.

The bookmarks allow me to edit any exceptions to the normal physical examination. Once completed, I have used the "Delete all Bookmarks" command which should remove all of the remaining bookmarks from the document. However, the command seems to only remove one of the bookmarks at a time, rather than all of the bookmarks at the same time. The command syntax is as follows from the system.dvc file:

HeardWord "delete","[","through","]"

Scripting "Manual" or other reference?

Hello,

I have been working with a client for several months now with DNS 11.5 Premium and we have recently added KnowBrainer into the mix. He has low vision and severe cerebral palsy so he has no functional use of his hands. We have achieved pretty amazing recognition with DNS after significant training (of DNS, not the client, who has a long history with earlier versions).

The client's breath support is erratic, so many commands that are multi-word, e.g., "Insert after <word> <character|word|phrase>," are well nigh impossible for him to get out with sufficient fluidity for DNS to recognize them correctly. However, if I could change the word, "Insert" to "Put" or the phrase "Insert after" to a coined phrase like "Put Aft", I think a far better result could be had.

So far I have not been successful in locating any reference I could use to look at existing/example scripts or a comprehensive list of the scripting commands available, where/how "the word the person said" is inserted into the script, etc. Does such a thing, or do several such things, exist anywhere?

Problems with Knowbrainer command

I am having problems with Knowbrainer recognizing a command. I totaled the command major problem <1to25>. When I dictate major problem 7, it does not go to the command but types major problem 7. I must be doing something wrong that is simple to fix, but I cannot figure it out. I appreciate any help. The command is a loop command, and when I refresh Knowbrainer there were no problems with the command in terms of scripting.

is it possible to place comments in Knowbrainer scripts? I am doing some work with positioning of the mouse and it would be nice to leave myself a little reminder of which step in the script I was executing when I put the mouse at coordinates 277, 638 and double-clicked.

I have tried some of the usual characters such as a ; or \ or ' as well as a few others – but I haven't hit one yet that will allow me to insert a line of text into the script without generating a syntax error.

I would like to have a command that will delete all unused bookmarks and the word right before the bookmark -or even better the whole line that the bookmark is in.

for example

Name: [01]

Address: [02]

favorite child: [03]

Favorite color: [04]

Favorite baseball team: [05]

If I don't use [03] and [05] I would like to delete both the bookmarks and the labels with a single command.

If deleting a preceding word is easier than a whole line I have no problem with making the label a single word - i.e. "favorite child" can become "favorite_child"

I am trying to make a template through a command.

The template consists of 2 or more paragraphs which contain some repetitive words. I plan to have one of these repetitive words, for example the possessive pronoun "her," represented by one bookmark number, for example "Bookmark 1," so by the time I will use the command, I will just say "number 1"and "her," all instances of "Bookmark 1" will be changed to "her."

I was able to put several instances of "Bookmark 1" in one document; but "number 1," all instances of [01] will just flash briefly and disappear. I think that DNS was confused by the many instances of [01].

Any thoughts and advice Will be greatly appreciated.

WPWIN13.dvc doesn't recognize WPWIN14.exe

The KB window changes to show it is recognizing Word or Firefox when I change to them, but not WPWin14. Do I need to rename the DVC or connect it to the WPWin14 executable? The only other reference in the forums I could find to this seemed to say it would just happen automatically, but it does not seem to be.

KB 2011 Global Command no longer works

I'm a novice user and I was initially thrilled that the first global command that I wrote worked. It didn't last for long.

I used KB 2011 global commands to write the following small script which calls a Macro Express routine to submit a dictation in a Remote Desktop EMR. Initially, this worked fine. However, I ran the acoustic and language optimizer, and rebooted the computer. Now the KB global command only types out my "heard words" - submit diagnosis. Any thoughts on how I can fix this? The macro works if I dictate the hotkeys using the command: Type control shift u

In the following, if I wanted to delete more than 1 word before the insertion of what is assigned to SendKeys how would I arrange the HeardWord? Command needed for a typical online class

Although I have been using DNS for a few years, I am new at designing commands on KB 2010.

A typical online class has a series of hyperlink messages written by students. We click on a message which shows what the student wrote and it also opens up a text box ready for instructor input. I would love to have a command that starts when the text box is filled in and clicks send and then goes and opens the next message in the line. It would be sort of like the, "transfer" message which is so helpful with Notepad and Outlook.

The attached document shows you what I see.

This is what I am trying to do:

Remove one word to the right.
Replace that deleted word with two words.

I have looked over the KB commands and tried to replicate some of the actions but to no avail.

When I use this:

Lunis, Thank you for the delivery last week. Loaded yester eve, late.

Works well, but as you say lethargic about starting the transcription, but then at times 10 used to take about 20 seconds to transcribe, but once started, got the idea, until there was another pause.

Tried to find MyCmds.dat file following the path and it isn't there, I have it in the Dragon side bar, my macros.

I am using Windows XP.

I have checked the Hidden files and folders (nothing about drives)

Seem to think we have been down this road before, which usually meant about 4-6 hours to re-enter all my personal macros, over 150 macros.

Open Office Change Font Size?

I have DNS 11 Premium and KB2010.

The command in KB and DNS11 for changing font size of selected text works only in MS Word. I have MS Word 2003 but I primarily use OpenOffice Writer.

I wrote a command to change the font size but I have a problem.

The first line of my script is this

Mouse Right

The problem is once this command is triggered the highlighted text becomes unselected and the change font command changes the font for future text.
Instead I want the selected text to be changed. How do I do this?

I thought of a possibility of moving the mouse cursor to the text cursor/pointer location but I can't find any command that can do this.
DNS has to know where the text cursor position is AND the mouse cursor/icon position, then move the mouse cursor to the text cursor and
then initiate the right mouse click to perform the font size change. This should work, but I don't know how to do it.

The font size option is located on the Right Click menu in OpenOffice Writer, it is also located on a drop down menu on a tab bar but I don't know how to select the tab bar item via DNS command. I got the right click method to actually work, I just need it to work with the selected text and not unselect it when it does the right mouse click.

Any ideas on how to do this?

How auto update Go To command?

How would I go about creating such a command in KB?

I read through the documentation provided for KB but don't understand how to do something like this.

Dragon 11 wants you to tweet. There are new Natural Language Commands for searching Twitter, and the dictation box even has a built-in character counter. As any dedicated tweeter knows, a trick to conveying information in only 140 characters is compressing those pesky long URLs. Here's a way to do it in KnowBrainer 2010:

I'm planning on migrating from vocola/Unimacro to KnowBrainer when I get ahold of NaturallySpeaking Premium 11 (hopefully tomorrow).

One particularly useful Unimacro macro that was kindly written for me will take a selection and transform it to uppercase and insert hyphens between the letters as in the following example:

"David Kehler" becomes "D-A-V-I-D K-E-H-L-E-R".

I need this because in doing court transcription, this is how it is denoted when somebody is spelling their name, for example.

I was thinking that the best way to accomplish this in KnowBrainer would be to copy the selection to the clipboard, then manipulate it and paste it back after being modified. In researching this idea, I have not stumbled across an easy way to dump the contents of the clipboard into a variable for manipulation. Is this possible in KnowBrainer and/or is this the best way to accomplish my goal?

Macro drop down menu

Iam currently using Dragon 10.1 Medical in a hospital setting when grossing (dissecting) surgical specimens. I am trying to create a macro (advanced scripting) to create a synoptic report with "locked" options for choices in certain fields. Other fields can be variables where open text can be inserted.

Here is an idea of what I am after:

Specimen Type: [Type] -when you say the word "Type" it would activate a macro with a dropdown list, from where you choose an option (eg. Breast Lumpectomy, Modified Radical Mastectomy, etc.)

I have created a "Text and Graphics" macro used a variable in the [ ]. When I say "Next Field" to activate the variable, the word in the variable (i.e. Type) activates a different advanced scripting macro. I used the "two boxes" and "radio boxes" examples in the DNS Advaced Scripting manual to see if it would work. It does work, but I can't figure out how to create a macro that uses a drop down menu with options that you choose verbally(I do not know how to script, and I am learning as I go).

auto formatting text

I'm curious to know, either with KB or DNS Legal, is it possible to setup auto formatting rules? e.g. I would like to set it up so that any time a sentence begins with "See" the word "See" appears in italics. Similarly "See e.g.". I'd also like to be able to set it up so that any Latin word is automatically italicized. Also so that anytime a word contains an apostrophe, (e.g. I'd, Jim's, examiner's etc.) smart quotes are used automatically. I already have left and right quotes, and left single and right single quote, but words that contain an apostrophe are bound mess me up.

exporting and importing commands

I wiped my hard drive and reinstall Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 when I tried to take my user off my thumb drive from before none of the commands were transferred over. Is it possible to export custom commands and save them somewhere and then import them in the future . How is this possible to do? If it is possible to do can I send my commands to another person over the Internet and have them import them into their Dragon. What if I create these commands that I want to send in KnowBrainer language will the commands work if they don't have KnowBrainer?

Chuck Runquist and Graham Henry brought up an interesting point on this thread about being able to train a phrase from within the Spell That Correction Dialog Box by saying the DNS train 1-10 command which additionally bypasses having to click the Go button and got us thinking...

We thought it would be interesting to kick it up a notch by adding a Train <1-10> command to KnowBrainer 2008 REV G (next release) but additionally make it available to everyone with an existing copy of KnowBrainer or DNS Pro, Medical or Legal.

From within the Spell That Correction Dialog Box you can choose 1 of the 10 available solutions or manually/verbally make your correction if you don't see an appropriate choice. KnowBrainer also includes a <1st-Last> Word listing command so that you can optionally select a specific word rather than having to correct an entire phrase. Once the phrase has been corrected, or if you optionally see the correct phrase on the list, simply say Train <1-10> which will select the appropriate choice, click the Train button, click the Go button, verbally prompt you to begin reading (training) and when you are done reading (no matter how long it takes) KnowBrainer will click the Done button to return you to your document. The only caveat is that after you hear the Go prompt, you have 3 seconds to begin training before the Done button is automatically clicked. However, once you begin training, the command will wait for you to finish before putting you back in your document. This can be a great way to train problematic words within context but keep in mind that if you're going to correct these words in context, you should avoid selecting misrecognition's and instead, move the cursor to the right of the misrecognized word and say the NaturallySpeaking correct that command or just say Correct if you're using KnowBrainer. It's important to correct the misrecognized word in the context of how it was originally used. Fortunately, NaturallySpeaking remembers your last 1000 dictations. The following 2 examples include the text coding that you can copy and paste into KnowBrainer or one of the professional versions of DNS.

I'm trying to get Knowbrainer to work with skype.. i accidently deleted the text of the answer command.. I re-created it using GoToSleep and Sendkeys "{Alt+PageUp} and it will put DNS to sleep but it will not answer the call... I'm using Skype4 although I prefer Skype3...

I was wondering whether in DNS9 or KB2008 a script macro could call a "step-by-step" macro (type a few lines) then resume the script?

In my EMR, there is a section which we use for results - for example a mammogram. I want to select my signature/time stamp (requires some tabbing and entering), enter a short paragraph of text, select my medical ssistant to forward the message to, close the telephone encounter, and mark the XRay as reviewed... requires some mousing as well. I thought about breaking up the task and using HeardWord to call another script.

Commands and a thumb drive

I have always been intrigued by the fact that some commands activate faster than others. Now that I have switched my user profiles to a thumb drive, when using it on a laptop (MacBook,OSX 10.5, xp professional running with VMWARE Fusion) I can see the flashing of the LED. Some commands access much faster than others. Can you explain why?

When I speak the "today's date" command, DNS spits out the date in the "month-day-year" format. The format I normally use is "year-month-day", which is Windows is set to. How can I change the format of the date for that?

Bookmarks

I am looking for a way to move more easily from one bookmark to the next in a boilerplate "form". Ideally, each time I stop at a bookmark, make an utterance, and have it transcribed by DNS, I would launch to the next bookmark. This would eliminate the need to say each "number X", which I find to be an awkward and slow process. This would be particularly helpful when I need to go to the next book mark but not make any changes. I suppose the latter could be accomplished by simply using [Delete bookmarks] command after all replacements were finished. I have not yet customized any of the supplied no-brainer scripts. This one looks a bit daunting to start with.

Installation of KB

I do not see see the command Start Voc Tools in the KB 2008 command window under KB or system dvc files. When I say the command is see "start voc tools" or "start box tools"

Dragon talk has such a problem with me when I say Vin it always puts a "then" instead. What is the best way to train as I have done the Quick Train command many times on it. When I say Quick I always get "click" and have trained it also.

Sugestions appreciated?

Ideas on How to Auto Client Lookup

I am trying to accomplish the following and ideas are appreciated:

I login into our company web based application through ie 7.

(see imag attachment) In the top right there is a Find a Customer: search box and net to it a drop down list. The name of the seach box is TxtSearhVal when I do a view source. I can say TxtSeachVal and cursor is taken to the search search box. I am unable to say Tab to move to the next box to select from the drop down list box as it just types Tab in the search box behind the name I say. If I hit the Tab key by hand it moves over to the drop down list box. The name of the drop down list box in the view source window is ActionCode, but I am unable to say this and have the drop down list box become active. If I pick from the drop down list box and then say enter, I get the results I want.

What I would like to do is create a macro or command that I can say which will automatically take me to the customer search box, let me say the name of person I want, next take me to the drop down list box next to it, allow me to say the first letter of the item in the drop down I want ( like c for "customer view", a for "auto", h for "home", or b for "billing" and then send the enter key.

I appreciate any thoughts and help?

Edit Go To Command

I was reading through the documentation being new to the NB sw.

I went in and wanted to add google as part of the Go To <website> command as I edited both parts as described in the VerbalBasic man.

I copied a line and pasted it under that command:
if _arg1 = "Google" then AppBringUp "www.google.com/"

I edited the website command and added Google:
Google

Now when I say Go To Google, I see "go to Google" and get a beep. When I use one of the existing commands, I see "Go To Netscape" which works fine.

Thoughts???

Need help with Outlook 2007 script

I am looking for some help in creating a script to move e-mail from my inbox to an archive folder in Outlook 2007. The folder "Archive" is where I store my old e-mail. I created a script called "Archive" with the following code:

SendKeys "{Ctrl+Shift+v}"
Wait 500
SendKeys "Archive"
Wait 500
SendKeys "{Enter}"

The script resides in: Outlook 2003_KB.dvc / OUTLOOK / Inbox

whenever I say the command Archive I get one for behaviors:
1. It works as designed
2. It opens the move to folder list and stops there
3. It opens the selected message to read
4. It does nothing

I would say he took the four above happen about 25% of the time each. Refreshing KnowBrainer does not seem to help increase accuracy of execution.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem may be and how to fix it?

Most of the time we need to edit a personal global command but one of the new features that we have grown to dislike in DNS 10, is that the Command Browser remembers where you were. This was designed to assist the average end-user but we found it to be a bit of a nuisance because we constantly jump between Internet Explorer and global commands. A variation on the following global command script will be added to KnowBrainer 2008 REV E and is designed to open the NaturallySpeaking Command Browser to a specific subset of commands. Note that you may want to increase or decrease the 1st wait time from Wait 8000, depending on the complexity of your Command Browser and speed of your computer. The following KnowBrainer command will allow you to say, for example: Open Word Commands and move the cursor to the names of the command so that you can say the name of the command you wish to edit. You will 1^st need to create a KnowBrainer Listing command with the following:

Windows Explorer

We recommend naming the previous macro Command You will then need to create a KnowBrainer Scripting command with the following:
