Hi friends,

I found an interesting add-on for clicking anywhere on the screen with just one command. It is called Voice Finger ( http://voicefinger.cozendey.com ), and btw I'm using it right now.

For those who are tired of the WSR "mouse grid", I think that is good news.

Hi Bob,

I downloaded Voice Finger when seeing it from your post. I must admit, it is very good and does save you a lot of time instead of using the MouseGrid. It took me a little bit of getting used to because you have to get the letters and numbers completely in the right place for you to perform your "click" to open a spot you want in one go.

I have had it for about 2 weeks and have now got used to it and how to use it quite well. I really thought it was free then all of a sudden I had a notice come up saying that my trial period was coming to an end and would I like to purchase it? I really thought it was free and did not expect that to come up.

I know it is only something like $9 which is something like £6 because I live in the UK. Have you actually bought it yourself now? I am still debating whether I really need to buy it. I will be honest and say, without it now that I have got used to it, I will probably miss it but I can make up my mind whether to give out my details to the Website to buy it in the next day or so. Still thinking about it ;-)

Cheers

Hi Andy,

It is a tiny program that does its job well, and I purchased it a long time ago, in my case because of my RSI.  In the beginning I also encountered this problem and I wished I should not need to move the grid. The solution I found is to add more coordinates to the grid. In the Voice Finger settings window, you can add any esoteric coordinates you want (In my case, I was only satisfied after I had almost 60 coordinates).  In this way, the grid is so populated that you rarely need to move it.

Hi Bob,

Could you give me the exact instructions on how you did this please?

Cheers

Ok, here is a step by step:

1. Right-click on the VF icon on the taskbar.

2. Click on "Settings..."

3. The Settings window will appear. In the Settings window, you will see a table on the right with just two cells: a short white cell on the left, and a long white cell on the right.

4. Click on the left cell and write just ONE character that will be your new coordinate, let's say, "!".

5. Click on the right cell and write the way you want to spell it, that is, the word you want to say to click at this coordinate. You can write anything here. Just to be obvious, let's write "exclamation".

6. Click "OK".

Now, if you say "mouse", you will see a new "!" coordinate after the "z" coordinate, and now your grid has 37 coordinates. Just repeat it in the Settings window for additional coordinates.

An easier way is you to load the settings file I'm attaching here

This is the settings and coordinates I use here and saved for you. Just go to the Settings window , click on "Load Settings...", and open it.

Hi Bob,

Thanks very much for the instructions you posted.  Unfortunately, the attachment you have posted came up with an error
message when I clicked on it as shown below:

Server Error404 - File or directory not found.
The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable

Perhaps you can try again with the attachment.  In the meantime I will try and have a go with the instructions you gave me.

Cheers

I think the attachment error can be a temporary bug in the knowbrainer forum... Either way, if you still want, you can send me your e-mail in a private message, and I will re-send the file through e-mail.

I'm attaching it here again, perhaps it will work now.

Hi Bob,

Hopefully you are still following this thread?

Thank you for your offer of sending me your attachment but I got the gist of what you were saying and followed your instructions. I too added extra co-ordinates.

Although I added more numbers and characters, this just made them smaller on the grid. I wasn't expecting this. I was expecting the numbers and characters would stay the same size but just be closer together so there was less space between them. There are still gaps between them although there are more.

Is there any way of making the gaps less or making the numbers and characters bigger thus closing the gaps?

What did you do or mean when you said you just added more and more co-ordinates so that then you rarely needed to move the grid? Did you make the numbers and characters bigger in any way to close the spaces between them?

If you did, could you tell me how to do this please?

Thank you
