Hi ,

We are using powerscribe for dictation , it is using dragon 12.

I would like to assign hot key to on of  powermic buttons, like 'alt+tab'.

How can I do that?

Thanks

Welcome to the World's Most Popular Speech Recognition Forum

Do you have access to your DMPE 2 (Medical 12) PowerMic hotkey
options in DMPE 2? If so, why not use the Dragon default hotkey to turn the microphone on and off? While you can change your Dragon hotkey options, it will have no effect on the PowerMic II/III because you cannot assign hotkeys to your PowerMic. It's strength is the simplicity of typing the name of the command you wish to execute in the PowerMic option fields. You just assign the name of any Dragon command; including personal commands or even third-party commands to your PowerMic buttons. However, that same strength might also be considered it's weaknesses because you are limited to typing the names of commands and cannot use hotkeys. We have never used Powerscribe which is limited to Dragon Medical 10 through 12 and has been discontinued. Hopefully you have access to your PowerMic key options but we understand that DMPE 2 is embedded within Powerscribe, which is always a bad idea; because of extreme limitations. EMRs, databases and Dragon should ALWAYS operate independently and not require each other. If you cannot access your Dragon options by right-clicking on the little microphone icon in your taskbar, you will have to contact Powerscribe support which will likely be very limited and probably MIA since Nuance discontinued this utility and doesn't even want you to use it.

The only way you can program your PowerMic III is through the DMPE 2/4 options menu. Unfortunately DMPE 2 is embedded into Powerscribe, which has been discontinued and no longer supported. Nuance will recommend a 2 year DMO contract which is $499 per user (setup fee) and $99 a month but cannot preserve your patient database because Nuance is leaving database capabilities to other companies. Your only options will be to purchase a fully supported Dragon EMR like TexTALK, which may even be able to import your Powerscribe database and allow you to work with DMPE 4.2. We do not sell TexTALK or receive a piece of the action but have written Dragon support commands into our KnowBrainer 2017 command utility. We have also worked with TexTALK. You might consider contacting Thanos Kontonssios or calling (281) 488-7016.

Unfortunately, no third-party command utility, like Python can help you with programming your PowerMic III keys because it requires direct Dragon access, which is protected.
