I have a chalange. We all know the minimal hardware requirements to run DNS 9 but who can tell me what PC platform CPU (mhz, mfg, generation, model) Ram (Mb, Mhz, Mfg, Model,) Harddrive (Gb, RPM, Mfg Model)  Mass Produced (Dell, Acer, Sony, Tablet PC)  is perfered and is acceptable to use this product (as not to cause a person any frustration)

Jeff,

Although faster CPUs and more RAM are preferable in terms of running multiple programs, I am able to run Dragon version 9 professional on a 1.6 GHz IBM ThinkPad Centrino with 1 GB of RAM. The 1.6 GHz Centrino is probably equivalent to a 2.4 GHz Pentium 4. It works smoothly with Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word 2003 running. There may be a one half second leg time occasionally, but it is nothing that is a showstopper.

As I am a microphone vendor, you can take this with a grain of salt, but having a good microphone and good sound card USB Soundpod will allow the system to smoothly interpret the words you dictate as text.

Martin

We concur with Marty's recommendations.  If your computer has a substandard sound card or microphone it can easily run 4 times slower when utilizing speech recognition software.

It sounds like you're worried about boutique companies such as SpeakEasy so our big-company recommendations would place Acer in the first place position.  Acer's saving grace is that it is now owned by Asus.  We also like IBM and amazing as it sounds, Hewlett-Packard.  HP is gotten a lot better since it moved its Technical Support back to the United States.  Dell still earns our last place vote.
