I recently installed Dragon Medical practice addition version 11 and am using a Sennheiser MD431 mic.  My computer is a Dell workstation 390, XP SP3, 2.93 g core 2 extreme, 64kb primary cache + 4 g memory Since this upgrade from version 10.1 Medical, the computer is sluggish and word recognition is frequently very delayed.  Can I reverse some of this by putting on windows version 7 pro or is there a significant advantage to just upgrading to a more current desktop?   Is the M-tech desktop as highly recommended as the M-tech laptop and regarded as superior to the Dell Workstation line?.    ThanksTom

Tom,

Before you go emptying your pockets for new hardware or upgrading to Windows 7, try moving the Speed vs. Accuracy slider all the way to the left (0% – Speed) and see if that gives you a little better performance. Some of us have already discovered that doing so does not affect accuracy in DNS 11-11.5 (also DMPE). Otherwise, you can try creating a new user using BestMatch III vs. BestMatch IV, which is the default when creating a new user. If you have upgraded your previous DNS 10.1 Medical user profile to DMPE, there is an option in the upgrade process to select BestMatch III. You might try that. However, the only reason for doing so would be to have access to any custom words and/or custom commands.

Also, thanks to a lot of hard work by MDH, we have discovered that the "Pause required before commands" tends to misfire for some commands in DMPE. The recommended workaround has been to move the slider to the third notch (0.3 seconds for 300 ms). This is not necessary if you are not experiencing any what have been called ROGUE commands. Take a look at the posts on that topic for more info.
