I have DNS 10.1 running in Windows 7 x64 RC (Lenova x61t) without any problems. I have the powermic 2 with the latest firmware. It is recognized normally on a separate machine in Vista x64 with the separate tab that comes up in DNS specifically for the PM2. In Windows 7, it is only recognized as a USB microphone, so essentially all the additional functionality of the PM2 is lost. Has anyone else come across this issue and a solution in Windows 7? I presume I will have to wait for a firmware update but maybe there is a workround. |

Welcome to the KnowBrainer Forums
We haven't experimented with Windows 7 yet but from a firmware or driver point of view, we think it's unlikely that Windows 7 would work any differently than Vista. However, we believe that you must additionally use a medical vocabulary in order to view the PowerMic II tab in DNS Medical 10. In other words, if you are using a general vocabulary, the PowerMic II tab is probably not available/viewable. -------------------------

Sorry I forgot to mention I am using Dragon Medical 10.1.

We assumed you were using Medical 10.1 when you mentioned the “PowerMic II 2 separate tab” but thanks for the clarification. However, the question remains, are you using a general vocabulary or medical vocabulary on the Windows 7 operating system?

tbever, Two suggestions: 1. Lunis is correct. If you're not using either the General Medical vocabulary or one of the specialty vocabularies, the PowerMic™ II will not show up in the DNS Options dialog. 2. My apologies. Anyone who read this post before I modified it, should know that under Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit) USB sound pod's and microphones are identified as "USB audio device." This will probably be corrected in the final release. However, at the present time this is the correct identification for these types of devices. Note also that if you have only one device (dictation source) the Audio Setup Wizard will not display multiple choices. However, if you do have multiple devices, then the Audio Setup Wizard should correctly identify each one by default, even if it doesn't identify specifically your USB audio device. Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent, will not. Nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius, will not. Unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education, will not. The world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan "Press on" has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race. - Calvin Coolidge -------------------------
