I am looking for suggestions for a microphone to use wth DNS 10 Preferred/Windows XP SP2. I'm most comfortable with the two-earpiece over the ear style. My workspace is relatively quiet. I believe some sort of external sound card may be necessary, though I'm not sure. I have a NVIDIA 8800 GTX graphics card installed, and I needed an external sound card with my last computer, which had a similar set up (previous mic came with one). I dictate approximately 10-15 hrs. week (not for a job). My maximum budget is $150.

For a two-earpiece (speaker) over head style look at the VXi TalkPro range. (I'm not sure that there is a good noise cancelling 2-earpiece over ear style)
The TalkPro USB 200 binaural headset is listed by VXi at $139 but can be found at $85.95. This version has an integrated USB sound pod.
The TalkPro Max 2 is a binaural headset with a standard 3.5 mm soundcard jack. List price $115.
You could also use the VXi TalkPro SP-2 (binaural) plus the QD 1030 cord. List $117 + $27.

Welcome to the KnowBrainer Forums
Another option would be the Andrea Electronics ANC 750 microphone which we found to be notably more noise canceling then the VXI TalkPro microphones which we also like. Add an inexpensive USB Pod external soundcard and you're well under your $150 budget. -------------------------
