I've been using the Airline 77 mike for a few days with NS. The sound board is the Andrea half-duplex. This morning the output volume jumped to maximum. It failed to pass NS volume test by virtue of being "too high".

Navigating the Windows 7 sound menus outside NS also showed the level maxed out in the green level indicators. In NS normal mode the varying sound level indicator shows red.

Did you try turning the master volume (large button on the left side) down? If that doesn’t work, your unit will probably need servicing by Samson (800) 328-2882. If your Airline 77 is no more than 3 years old, it is still under warranty and if you purchased your unit from us, we have a copy of your receipt available at sales@knowbrainer.com

1. I did buy it from you. Had it less than a week, so using it is a learning process for me. I rotated the volume button dramatically and got it to pass the audio tests. I presume there must be a crucial interplay between NS setting the volume and the Windows 7 involvement in the audio.

I spoke too soon. Problems developed again with the audio volume test failing, this time with the more familiar error report. When I get a chance, I'll experiment to try to find a microphone volume knob setting that works.

Just a guess to try. You may have a cable problem. First unplug and replug the cable from the Airline unit to your sound pod. If you have the cable that uses the 3.5mm adapter on the end to the sound pod end and the 1/4" connector on the Airline end (as opposed to an XLR connector), unplug and replug the adapter. There is also a slider switch on the back labeled roughly "-40 db" in one setting and "-20 db". Check the setting.

Thanks Phil. I think I got it working by walking through the installation instructions a little more faithfully plus fine tuning the Samson squelch and volume controls while watching the Windows 7 sound panel bar graph display. That allowed me to exactly fine tune out the noise. I'd show that image here if I knew how.

The Airline 77 does seem to be working now. What I found by watching the Windows 7 sound panel was that the Airline 77 receiver was sending spurious activity to the sound board when the power switch on the mike was set to off. I got rid of that visually using the squelch knob. Then when I turned on the mike there was more activity showing even though I was not dictating. I got rid of that by lowering the volume via the prominent volume knob on the receiver, till it disappeared. After that the mike passed the NS audio checks that it had been failing and I could dictate.

I still have the HOOKERR_NONOTIFYWINDOW error plus dictation hanging up showing a variety of errors in the error log.

"spurious activity to the sound board when the power switch on the mike was set to off.
The propensity for interference which manifests as you described is a real downside for the new Airline77 frequency receivers (which were mandated by the FCC). I have this problem intermittently and I've just taken to turning off the microphone as opposed to just bring the microphone sleep.

" HOOKERR_NONOTIFYWINDOW" error is almost certainly due to an Adobe flash incompatibility. The Naturally Speaking Quick Tips link on the left side of this page has instructions for a workaround to fix the error.

Greetings to Chairman Mau, sitting in his chair on the patio obviously. So how did he get on with recording the testing readings, by the way? I take it he is quite a busy cat, but please be so kind to inform him that a female fellow of his, named Lilly, is waiting for his input.

Just another cat lover

After a lot of experimenting and developing my own setup sequence, my Airline 77 is working quite well. Also, I like the cat.

The cat runs my life. Also since Chairman Mau is better looking than I am (and more social) I've decided to use him as my social media image.

My Airline 77 is working well now except I still have one problem with it. The good new is no more HOOKERR_NONOTIFYWINDOW errors since the installation of NaturallySpeaking v12. What it does when you try to write into a webpage is open up a NatSpeak Dictation Box for the dictation and then later, upon request, makes the transfer.

The problem I'm having has to do with the AAA battery in the microphone transmitter. On several occasions the LEDs in the receiver RF meter have gone off and this is fixed by replacing the battery. Overnight I inadvertently left the transmitter power on and had to put in another battery this morning. The battery was a Duracell ProCell, not a rechargeable.

For a variety of reasons my own preference is to use rechargeables. My question here is is there a preferable brand or model of rechargeable AAA batteries I should be using? I presume I'm talking about NIMH batteries. I bounced this question off customer support at Thomas Distributing where I've typically bought batteries and I get an answer that made it clear that the sender didn't know the difference between voltage and power. The suggestion was to try lots of different kinds to see which work best. This was not a better answer than I got from my dog when I asked her the same question.

You can use any rechargeable NIMH or alkaline battery but our favorite is the Eneloop Battery Charger which lasts about 4 times longer but there is a catch. Eneloop batteries are a little bit shorter so you will have to extend the coil spring in the headset battery compartment, by prying it outward a smidgen in order to get the Eneloop battery to make contact. This is why we offer the Eneloop battery charger on our website with the Airline 77.
