I'm using Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11.5 professional, on Windows 7. I have spent hours trying to get the Jabra 9450 wireless microphone to work with Dragon, without success. I've had assistance from the help desk of the Australian distributor of the mic , but still no success. Are there any tricks? I assist clients to use Dragon, and have tried getting the Jabra 9450 to work with DNS 11.5 Pro on two different machines, so I don't think the problem is located on the computer. Also, have tried with 3different 9450s so if it's a fault, there is a fault with three mics, which seems a bit unlikely though it is possible. Can't get the 9450 to work with Dragon, or even to do a Windows sound recorder recording. I checked in control panel, and the 9450 shows as the default device for both playback and recording. I did get it to work with Skype once, and made a call, so both playback and recording were working with PC at that time, but now I can't get it to work with Skype again. There seems to be a problem with switching between desktop telephone and PC - lights on the base station for phone and PC are sometimes green, white, orange and sometimes no light at all, and no obvious rhyme or reason. Sometimes when I switch from phone to PC, the phone light stays orange, while at the same time PC light is white. Other times when I switch from phone to PC, phone light goes off completely. I have installed the software. I've also had a look at the 30 page manual but can't find anything obvious there. I have successfully set up the previous model, the Jabra 9350 without problems. Any tips welcome. L |

One of the advantages in purchasing from a speech recognition solutions provider is that you additionally receive instructions on how to set up your unit with NaturallySpeaking. We suspect that you simply haven't turned on the built-in speech recognition application which is by no means logical. We ran into the same issue ourselves.
We have e-mailed you a PDF copy of our Jabra 9470 manual which covers this information but if you need additional assistance, you'll find Jabra Support 800-826-4656 is usually quite good. -------------------------

Thanks Lunis, if I lived in the US I would definitely buy from you, or another specialised retailer. Unfortunately not so many retail options here in Australia, and if I buy from US, there is a problem with the power plugs which are different here. I appreciate your assistance. I am using the 9450, not the 9470. The 9450 doesn't have the screen, so unfortunately your instructions don't apply. Will try to contact Jabra support here in Australia. still keen to hear from anyone who is successfully using the 9450 with Dragon. L |

Sorry about not noticing that you're using the Jabra 9450. We chose not to carry or recommend that model, for speech recognition, because the microphone boom is a little too short.

I bought the samson 77 from KB and its good. I'm in NZ. The power plug issue is no problem just go to your local e-tronics store and an adapter will cost about $20.00 and it works perfectly. Shipping from KB is Ultra fast (3-4 bus days max) R |
