Hi all, I have a Samson airline77 microphone. It works but I have noticed that I get a hissing noise when I dictate. It is al most as if someone is blowing into the microphone. If this was a wired microphone, I could duplicate it by shaking the microphone jack. This noise is intermittent. Other than this noise, the speech is clear and I get good accuracy.

What could be the problem? I have tried adjusting the volume on the base unit which has not helpped.

It sounds like you might be experiencing a little interference. If this is the case, eliminating the problem would raise both your accuracy and dictation speed. However, it's also important to insure that that the hiss isn't just coming from your speakers as opposed to being generated by your microphone. It's not unusual for speakers to generate a little hiss. Try turning up the volume in your speakers without any sound going through them. If you don't hear hiss, try playing back your Audio Check recording via the Play button. You might also pause slightly, here and there, when running the Audio Check so that you can create a recording with no sound. If you're microphone is generating hiss, it will be easier to hear the quiet spots.

Note that we have never tried this but as an experiment, you might try moving the squelch, which would normally be turned off (all the way to the left), to about the 50% mark. This probably wouldn't fix the problem but it can cut out some types of interference. Note that we would normally never recommend using the squelch control.

Hi Lunis,

The problem appears to be solved. I disabled the wireless radio of my router. I changed the battery too so everything is working as expected.

Well I spoke too soon. Instead of a hiss, I am now getting cutouts in my speech when I dictate. This does not happen all the time. The microphone wizzard passes my microphone. I get clear speech like I always do but at times, I get misrecognitions and when I hear play back, I hear that a part of my speech in that utterance has cutout. It is almost like someone deleted it but did a poor job since a gap is left in the speech. The setting of  the squelch control to 60% did not help. I was told that the sound quality is unacceptable when I ran the dns microphone testing wizzard.

I am attaching my dragon log since I can see some warnings there. I don't know if they have anything to do with the problem.
