I have a second generation 3-in-1 and a Sennheiser MD 431 II. I'd like to use the Sennheiser MD 431 II plugged into the back of the 3-in-1 just to use the base of the 3-in-1 as the USB pod that connects the Sennheiser to the computer (versus using my Andrea USB pod) - while still using the original Sennheiser MD 431 II user profile. Is that doable and if so, specifically how do I accomplish that? ------------------------- DNS 12.0 Pro (KnowBrainer + VoiceComputer - latest versions) Buddy 7G (2nd gen) USB + Sennheiser MD 431 II - Toshiba Satellite Core™ i7 2670QM laptop 4 cores/8 threads 6 MB L3 cache 6 GB DDR3 RAM (1333 MHz) + MacBook Pro with Retina display (i7 2.7 Ghz); 16 GB RAM; 8 MB of L3 chache; 751 GB Solid State Drive (using Parallels 8 with Boot Camp). |

Is that doable and if so, specifically how do I accomplish that? Alan, To do this, you simply plug the Sennheiser MD431 II into the back of the SpeechWare 3-in-1. After doing this you should exit Dragon NaturallySpeaking and reload it using your Sennheiser MD431 II profile. Then run the Audio Setup Wizard, for which the default should be the SpeechWare 3-in-1 soundcard option. However, don't be surprised if the audio output signal is low or if you can't pass the Quality Check in the Audio Setup Wizard. The second generation SpeechWare 3-in-1 system board, secondary output signal is weaker than the first generation system boards and you may find that the Sennheiser MD431 II doesn't work as well as an external microphone input/output through the second generation SpeechWare 3-in-1 system board. Nonetheless, and for reasons that have been explained elsewhere, what you are wanting to do is not recommended. Chuck Runquist -------------------------

And hence your idea about exporting and then re-importing my Sennheiser user profile under a new name... You had mentioned using your Sennheiser in conjunction with the 3-in-1 so is exporting, re-importing your Sennheiser profile how you do that? So after re-importing my Sennheiser user profile under a new name and doing one of the training exercises, I would just pick the "clonned" Sennheiser user profile, still have the USB as the source and dictate as ususal but using the Sennheiser? In your experience, does just keeping the original Sennheiser user profile and plugging that into the computer with an Andrea USB and then keeping the original 3-in-1 profile and just plugging that into the computer when I want to use the 3-in-1 work the best or does the clonned Sennheiser user profile benefit from the 3-in-1 hardware to the degree you really don't need the original Sennheiser user profile? As always, many thanks for your most valued feedback! ------------------------- DNS 12.0 Pro (KnowBrainer + VoiceComputer - latest versions) Buddy 7G (2nd gen) USB + Sennheiser MD 431 II - Toshiba Satellite Core™ i7 2670QM laptop 4 cores/8 threads 6 MB L3 cache 6 GB DDR3 RAM (1333 MHz) + MacBook Pro with Retina display (i7 2.7 Ghz); 16 GB RAM; 8 MB of L3 chache; 751 GB Solid State Drive (using Parallels 8 with Boot Camp). |

Before going to all that work, we recommend running the Audio Check on your current user profile with the Sennheiser MD431 II plugged into the 3-in-1 input. Nothing will be permanent until you get to the last stage and click the Finish button. The reason why we make this recommendation is because we don't think you'll be able to use the Sennheiser desktop on the 3-in-1 because we don't believe the input is hot enough to accommodate the Sennheiser's large microphone capsule.

Plugging the Audio-Technica Pro HEW into the back of the 3-in-1 also results in deafness all around. There is a reference in KB supplied materials to a "blue" light, but 3-in-1 only shows green or red when the "PUSH" button is pressed. Also, the Table Mike must have hurt feelings when a headset is plugged into it. Even when the headset is taken out, the Table Mike, which was working before the plug in, quits working and will not pass the volume test. Even after DNS is restarted. I wonder how long it will be on strike? |

The microphone input on the 3-in-1 isn't hot enough to accommodate the Pro 8HEmW. The blue light bypass doesn't engage until you press the Normal button (on the far right) when the microphone is turned on (green light mode). However, it will not work with the Pro 8HEmW either.
Quote: Even when the headset is taken out, the Table Mike, which was working before the plug in, quits working Assuming you are in green light mode and you're still not able to pass the Audio Check, try unplugging and re-inserting the USB connection. If that fails, consider temporarily locking your microphone on by moving the slider switch, on the bottom of the base, to Always On which you may prefer because it eliminates ever having to turn on the microphone. -------------------------
