I want to occasionally be able to dictate some short notes while away from the computer. I want to use a portable microphone like theBoom V4 or the Sennheiser ME3 in conjunction with a recorder that has a line in jack. For this task, does it matter which recorder I choose... or does any old digital sound recorder cut it since the microphone being used is of high quality? Thanks and sorry if this has been addressed before (I wasn't able to find any threads). ------------------------- DNS 10.1 Preferred, Windows Vista Home Premium |

In our opinion, if you're just going to make occasional notes and then attempt to transcribe those notes with NaturallySpeaking, don't even bother with a microphone because it's not going to help that much. You probably won't be able to improve your accuracy by more than 2% at best. Any recorder will do for making quick notes because you can always echo dictate into NaturallySpeaking and you may not realize it but the little condenser microphones that are built into most digital recorders are actually pretty decent. However if you still want to add a high-end microphone to a digital recorder, we recommend the theBoom “V4” over the Sennheiser ME3 because the ME3 tends to make recording sound a little froggy and we also found the V4 to be a little more accurate.
