I'm about to upgrade to a new computer and am with great trepidation moving to Vista. Does anyone know if the Olympus DSS Player 2002 works with Vista? Believe it or not, this information was not on the Olympus web site (or at least I couldn't find it).
Thanks! |

We don't know with absolute certainty because we are primarily involved with the DSS Player Pro software for the professional line of recorders but we don't believe your old software is Vista compatible. The Olympus DSS Player Pro software didn't become Vista compatible until Olympus released Ver. 4.9.2 but we're fairly certain that you can contact Olympus for the latest version of their consumer DSS Player software and that it will be Vista compatible. All Olympus consumer and professional recorders sold over the past year have included Vista compatible DSS Player software.

Thanks Lunis. I'm hoping that I can buy just a software upgrade from them. I'll have to call them, I suspect. I do want to do an upgrade on my whole system (recorder etc), but that isn't going to happen for a bit... Jennifer |

I'm forced to Vista and now my DSS 2002 (Which I upgraded all down the line with Olympus) player doesn't work. I installed the software just fine, but there is some missing or incompatible USB driver thingys that cause an error when you start the desktop. After you dismiss the error codes, it looks like it works, but when you hook up your recorder, it doesn't locate the recordings on the recorder, even though the program does locate the recorder as a device in the device table. So, there is the problem in a nutshell. I'm going to bite the bullet and order a new recorder with the latest player technology. If anybody knows any workable solutions please let us know. I think there are going to be more and more users in this predicament. I looked at the Olympus site under the 3300 recorder and there are 3 available downloads to try and fix this. The first upgrades DSS player 2002 to Ver 6, then another from 6 to Ver 7, then finally another for Vista compatiblity to Ver 7.10. so, I'll try that later when I don't have anything else to do but monkey the the operating system. |

If you are referring to the DS-3300 when you say “3300” then you are looking at the wrong software. The DSS Player software is designed for the Olympus consumer line of recorders. The DS-3300 includes the DSS Player Pro software and the latest version of that software is Ver. 4.9.4 which is available to you. You will need your original serial number to install but you will find a download near the bottom of our Olympus DS-4000 digital recorder page. Note that the download is labeled as an upgrade but it's a full copy of the DSS Player Pro software because if the last version released for DS-3300 and DS-4000 recorders. Ver. 5 is not available as a download and is exclusive to the Olympus DS-5000 digital recorder. The newer versions of the DSS Player Pro software also automatically update themselves. Ver. 4 was a major pain because we had to keep uploading new versions every few weeks.
