Hi

I have a ds-9500 recorder, and my question is, is it possible  for the Olympus software to automatically recognzie a recording once it has transferred wirelessly to my PC?

Or should I set up the autotranscribe folder agent for Dragon DPI15.3  to take over?

I'm a bit confused. I've managed to get the wireless transfer working, and the results are good. This recognition question should be the final brick in the wall. But I don't want to set up a recursive loop with both Olympus and Dragon competing for priority.

Many thanks

El Terry

Good morning El Terry,

It seems like you're asking if there is a way to have the Olympus ODMS software automatically convert a dictation that you have sent into the workflow wirelessly using Dragon. If that's the question, the answer is yes.

I use my DS-9500 all the time to dictate notes about meetings, projects or other ideas. When I send the file into ODMS, in my folder settings I can have it automatically begin back-end speech recognition as soon as the file is there. This means that by the time I'm back to my computer, the transcription is all done and waiting there for me.

What's really nice about using ODMS is we can tie the audio file to the text. So if there are a few mistakes in the text, if I click on the word or just in front of it and hit play, I'll hear the recording of just that part and I'll be able to make the corrections easily. Your Pro Audio dealer should be able to help ensure it's set up, but feel free to reach out to me directly.

If we understand your question correctly, your Olympus recorder transcription is falling behind at the edit points. We don't have an answer but as usual, we have a plan B:

How about leaving the ODMS utility out of the equation and substituting with Dragon's AutoTranscribe Folder Agent; assuming you're using 1 of the professional versions of Dragon. We can often give you a more qualified answer when you fill out your forum profile.

Were you ever able to get it working?

I just finished a short video that demonstrates how you can connect ODMS R7 to Dragon.  Hopefully this will help if you have any quesitons.

Alan

i have a repeated problem of the 9500 not connecting through wifi. I contacted Olympus support w ho were great, that was when I bought the machine, but it took them a half hour of remote working to get it running.
Is there a quick fix? Rather than another half hour session.

Hi El Terry,

Unfortunately without knowing exactly what the issue was or what was fixed I'm not sure if there is anything I can recommend for the moment. Do you know who you reached out to or have a ticket number or something so I can try to look up your case? Feel free to send it to my email so it's not public (alan.doucet@olympus.com).

Kind regards,

Hi El Terry,

For some reason I didn't realize you were in the UK even though you have (UK) next to your name. Sorry about that. Unfortunately I don't have access to their system. If you provide me with your contact info I can have them reach out to you, or you can reach back out directly to them:

Thanks anyway, when I have a spare hour or half hour I'll give it another go. One question which I know others have failed to get a satisfactory answer for, and perhaps you can help. My recorder has the latest firmware, which I confirmed once again today. Why does it continually say 'updating' and 'please wait' when I switch off? It's irritating, and one cannot but wonder what is going on. Is this another update? Obviouasly not, because when I check, it is as I said, up to date.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Is there anything I can do to prevent it, or is it glitchy firmware? (Perhaps this is causing my wifi connection problem.)

Thanks

El Terry

Hi El Terry,

Unfortunately yes, that is an issue in our current firmware. We've got a number of huge firmware updates coming starting in September so you won't have to deal with that for much longer. In addition, if you're not currently using the Wifi, you can disable it, and this bug should go away. There's actually a good chance you're experiencing the issue because of the connectivity issues you're having.

Sorry for the inconvenience and I'll let you know when the firmware is updated.
