Hello, A while ago, I read on a post here that Dragon doesn't handle large sound files very well. After a certain point, it starts to slow down considerably and can lose information. I know there's no exact answer for this, but I was wondering if anyone had a rough idea of how large (or long) a sound file can get before Dragon starts running into problems? I'm talking about files created with the DS5000. I've transcribed fairly long (about an hour or so) files with no problems. These files came to somewhere between 12 and 15 megs, I think. Is that pushing the limit? You may already be pushing the envelope with one-hour recordings. We typically only recommend 20 - 30 minute recordings but that's a rough estimate as we suspect that your processor has something to do with your time limit.

Thanks. I'm using an older laptop, so I'll keep the files to around 20-30 minutes. ------------------------- Compaq 6730b laptop Intel Core 2 Duo p8400 2.26 Ghz 1.93 G RAM (available) Intel Wireless Wifi Link 5100 adapter / Windows XP SP3 / Knowbrainer purchases: Philips 9600 DPM, Knowbrainer headset microphone, Samson Airline 77, Olympus DS5000id, DNS 10.1, Knowbrainer 2008, Parrott Half Duplex VXI USB Sound Pod |
